Being a parent of little humans is and will always be my best leadership course. This snippet is one of my favorite videos to watch repeatedly and get perspective. It’s easy to allow a challenging day or situation to get the best of our emotions. When we’re feeling anger or frustration, we become narrowly focused. Learning to step back, detach, and see the big picture is a skill that can drastically improve our ability to keep ourselves in check. To avoid doing or saying something we’ll inevitably regret. Regardless of being a parent, this concept also applies to operating within a leadership setting. We will constantly be confronted with people or circumstances that ignite our emotions and show us where we’re not in control. But we always have the power to zoom out, gently nudge our Egos out of the driver's seat, and bring ourselves back to center. We're all trying to learn and figure it out at all ages, and a little perspective, patience, and compassion with ourselves and others goes a long way.
