The Solidarity Collaborative’s work will draw from and build upon existing efforts of leaders and organizations at the forefront of solidarity work, offering inspiring examples of what is possible with greater intentionality around and investment in robust solidarity efforts. These examples include a series of cross-community Solidarity Summits, dedicated to fostering and supporting solidarity among social justice communities, where leaders such as Judith Browne Dianis were able to come together and share in their experiences. Non-board member provide perspective, insight, expertise, experience and time that might not be possible as a member of the board. The opportunity can also serve to develop a bench of potential members of a board in case of resignation, term limits, etc. while build familiarity with the culture of the governing board and staff. Be sure to clarify who and how votes are counted in accordance with bylaws and regulations. #giveback #volunteer #board #opportunity

Agree that non-board members can serve & benefit themselves and organizations! I’ve used it and served on committees as such. It creates a pipeline of potential next gen leaders as well as offer opportunities to serve and receive expertise from people who don’t have the capacity to serve on a board at the time.
