When people ask me why I work at a non-profit, it gives me a chance to share how charities like the United Way have connected me with mentors who have shaped my leadership. This morning kicks off United Way of Greater Los Angeles's Community College Mentorship Program and I'm proud of the Mentees and Mentors who've woken up early today to start this journey over the next five months. Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the devastating LA wildfires. A warm welcome to the second cohort of Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and West Los Angeles College students, who will embark on an amazing journey of professional and personal growth through the transformative power of mentorship. As we celebrate #NationalMentorshipMonth, we thank all the mentors who volunteer for this program, designed to boost student retention, increase transfer rates, and support certificate completion. Students will also receive guided career exploration through workshops and one-on-one meetings throughout the semester. This past Friday, I had the privilege of joining my team at the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles/ Hollywood, where we came together to give back to those affected by the recent fires. It was an incredibly humbling experience to see the impact we could make by simply showing up and offering support to those in need. Big thank you to Peter Grogan for not only supporting Cecilie Pleet and I but being there with us all afternoon. One of the biggest reasons I chose to join Paychex was the company's commitment to giving back and encouraging us to be active in our communities. I'm also proud to share that the Paychex Charitable Foundation is stepping in to support the recovery and relief efforts with donations to the American Red Cross and the United Way of Greater Los Angeles Wildfire Response Fund.
