Advancing equity in one area lays the foundation for broader systemic change. Just as a rising tide lifts all boats, promoting equity in one domain invariably fosters advocacy for fairness and justice across all sectors. Whether it's championing diversity in the workplace, advocating for inclusive education policies, or fighting for equal access to healthcare, our efforts in one arena invariably spill over into others. By recognizing the interconnectedness of social justice issues, we acknowledge that progress in one area strengthens the collective push for equity everywhere. It's not enough to address inequities piecemeal; we must tackle them holistically, understanding that disparities in one realm often stem from broader systemic injustices. #Equity #Intersectionality #SocialJustice #SystemicChange

This year's Lake Nona Impact Forum #LNIF24 is shining a spotlight on women's health. But the question looms: Will the perspectives, innovations, empowerment, and research related to #widows find a place at the table? My experience from last year's forum revealed a glaring omission—despite the backdrop of a pandemic that significantly increased the number of #widows, their health challenges and adversities weren't addressed even once. This oversight sparked a fire in me, leading me to pen “Reimagining a Future for Widows’ Health: The Next 20 Years”. It's a call to action, urging us to weave the threads of #widowhood into the broader tapestry of women's health discussions and initiatives. From #LNIF24 posts, “It's time to rewrite the narrative and place women's health at the forefront where it rightfully belongs, ensuring that every woman feels heard, supported, and empowered on.” When we say EVERY woman, let's not forget that includes WIDOWS too. #widowadvocate #invisiblewomen #widowhood #womenshealth #inclusion

Conference Season is upon us. How can we support each other to take one step further? To shift status quo practices? How are you showing up as a #fieldcatalyst? "If you have a foundation that cares about year-over-year deliverables on your key performance indicators, that’s a certain type of work, but that’s not systems change. Systems change doesn’t give a damn about year-over-year progress. Systems change is a longer play that needs funders willing to embrace the complexity of the landscapes they are working in." Erin Ricci, PhD, Health Care Without Harm Where Do Field Catalysts Come From? Typically, field catalyst leaders are motivated by the realization that a lack of connective tissue coordinating various actors is impeding equitable systems change in their area of work. Before taking on the work of a field catalyst, many of these leaders reported spending 18 months in deep dialogue with other actors in the ecosystem, testing and iterating ideas and priorities while building #networks and #trust in order to identify the precise needs of the field and ways they could meet them. Empowering Through Sport: Promoting Health & Equality! I want to highlight "Empowering Through Sport: Promoting Health & Equality," an initiative that has had a profound impact on me. This program leverages the power of sports to promote health and equality, particularly for women and girls of reproductive age. By cultivating an inclusive environment, the initiative empowers these individuals to lead healthier lives, access essential resources, and champion their rights within the community. It serves as a powerful reminder of how sports can break down barriers and inspire the next generation of leaders. To my fellow young leaders: These are the kind of messages we need to get out there as a reminder of how sports set the stage for creating a power that can make a change for an improved tomorrow! Let’s unite to amplify these messages. 💪🏽🌟 #LearningSprintIOCYL @IOCYoungLeaders

A fantastic panel of inspiring women @rch yesterday for international women’s day grand round. A great discussion about women in leadership, communication styles and how we can continue to support eachother and build up young women in the health professions. A few takeaways: *look for the quiet leaders- the best leaders are not necessarily the loudest in the room *you don’t need a title to be a great leader * let’s crush the myth that “good communication is a soft skill” *leadership can be held diffusely in a team #iwd2024 #womeninleadership #womeninmedicine #womeninhealthcare

A privilege to chair the The Royal Children's Hospital #iwd2024 grand round yesterday with Lexi Frydenberg and a fabulous panel of passionate, wise and authentic women! Thank you Dr Ranjana Srivastava OAM Jenny O'Neill May Low & A/Prof Jenny Hynson for a great discussion around investing in women and girls & fostering leadership from a medical, nursing, ethical and legal perspective 👏 thx also to Jane Munro for bringing this group together. Loved your stories and humility whilst being shining examples of different types of leadership - IWD is about the rise of women, not the fall of men; recognizing and addressing bias, positive inclusion and strong advocacy from us all. Lots of work still to do! 💪 Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) University of Melbourne Women in Global Health

Today serves as a reminder that social justice is a tangible goal that requires collective effort. As humans, we have a shared commitment to equality, justice, and the protection of basic human rights. Unfortunately, inequality continues to persist around the world – even in 2024. We see the effects of it every day. We all have a role to play in bringing about positive change. Here are 5 ways to make a meaningful difference in the communities around you. ⬇️ 1. Educate Yourself & Others Take time today to learn about social justice issues that are local to you. Intentionally exploring and working to understand social justice issues that impact the communities around you can provide insight into how you can make a meaningful impact in your immediate surroundings. 2. Amplify Marginalized Voices Share content created by individuals from marginalized communities. Use your platform to amplify their voices and raise awareness about the challenges they face. Actively listen to their experiences and perspectives. This helps us better understand the nuances of different experiences, the struggles faced by marginalized groups, and the systemic challenges that perpetuate injustice. 3. Support Ethical (& Local) Brands Make a conscious effort to support fair trade and ethical brands. By practicing mindfulness and choosing products that prioritize social justice, you contribute to a more equitable global economy. 4. Engage in Dialogue: Initiate open and respectful conversations about social justice within your communities and network. Encourage others to share their perspectives and foster understanding and empathy through open discussion and active listening. 5. Take Local Action: Identify social justice initiatives or organizations in your local community and get involved. Volunteer your time, donate, or lend your skills to make a positive impact where it matters most. #SocialJusticeDay #WorldDayOfSocialJustice #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Equality #SocialJustice #FightForFairness
