🌬 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟-𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐔𝐩 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 - H1 2024 The first half of 2024 saw a record-breaking 241 jack-up interventions, marking an increase of 21% compared to 2023. This period was largely dominated by O&M-focused vessels, with only six interventions carried out by installation vessels. 🔹 ZITON A/S once again leads the market with 110 interventions across their fleet of five vessels. 🔹 Van Oord’s O&M unit, MPI Offshore, secured the second spot, with their O&M-focused vessels MPI Adventure and MPI Resolution carrying out 60 interventions. 🔹 ATHELEON conducted 37 interventions using their two vessels, with Thor handling turbines ranging from the Siemens Gamesa SWT-2.3-93 to the Vestas V164-9.5. 🔹 Gulf Marine Services PLC's GMS Endeavour completed 22 interventions under a contract with Ørsted, servicing seven different wind farms, all featuring the SGRE 3.6/4.0 MW platform. 🔹 Eunsung O&C carried out six interventions in South Korea. 🔹 Cadeler completed six interventions using their WTIVs Wind Scylla and Wind Osprey between installation tasks. Overall, ten O&M-focused jack-ups were active in the first half of 2024, with all these vessels operating at near full utilization. With the growing demand for O&M jack-ups, vessel availability is becoming an increasingly critical challenge. Reach out to our project manager Lars-André Bugge Tobaben to hear more about our perspective on the future of the O&M jack-up intervention market and how our intelligence can help you.

MPI Offshore, a subsidiary of Van Oord, has signed a three-year contract with Vattenfall for the use of the MPI Resolution, an offshore installation vessel. This vessel will be used to service Vattenfall’s offshore wind turbines, which have a maximum power output of 5 MW across Northern Europe. As wind turbines wear down over time, the availability of the MPI Resolution will play a key role in maximizing the efficiency and output of Vattenfall's offshore assets, increasing fossil-free electricity generation. The contract ensures the vessel’s availability for several months each year, particularly from March to October, the peak maintenance season. The MPI Resolution, the world’s first purpose-built offshore wind installation vessel, is equipped with innovative technologies and designed for heavy offshore maintenance, making it ideal for the wind energy sector. Vattenfall’s Head of Offshore Generation, Pavlo Malyshenko, expressed confidence that this partnership will enhance the company’s maintenance efforts. The first US-built, Service Operations Vessel is another step closer to being operational, now that it has been christened by Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO). Kudos to the US shipbuilding industry for getting this done. Hopefully more to come. One of the Gulf Coast's major offshore operators will therefore take a leading role in the Northeast operations and maintenance of Ørsted and Eversource Energy’s South Fork Wind, Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind projects. It will be interesting to see how the industry sources those live-aboard technicians, as the promise is that it will be a diverse workforce sourced from the communities most affected by operations. It will also be interesting to see if there is diversity on the maritime operations side as well. #Maritime #Shipbuilding #OffshoreWind #ServiceOperationsVessel #SouthForkWind #RevolutionWind #SunriseWind #WorkforceDevelopment #Diversity #Equity

Equinor and Polenergia have signed contracts with Heerema Marine Contractors for the transport and installation of foundations and offshore substations for the Baltic 2 and Baltic 3 projects. The offshore work, scheduled between 2026 and 2027, will utilize Heerema's fleet of floating cranes. This contract includes the installation of 100 monopiles, transition pieces, and offshore transformer stations. Mr. Jerzy Zan, CEO of Polenergia S.A., emphasized the significance of the Baltic 2 and Baltic 3 wind farms, which will supply clean energy to over 2 million households. The first electricity from these projects is anticipated by 2027, with full commercial operations commencing in 2028. https://lnkd.in/e8iyKf8s #Equinor #Polenergia #Heerema #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #BalticSea #Thialf #CleanEnergy #SustainableFuture #Poland #WindPower

TADEK has delivered a sector-leading study assessing through-life performance of Tension Leg Platforms (TLP) compared to Semi-Submersible alternatives for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT). The report, produced for Marine Power Systems Ltd (MPS), provides in-depth analysis in key areas such as platform sizing, assembly and fabrication arrangements, quayside and port operations, tow and stability, mooring and cable installations, mooring hook up and operation performance. Moreover, the report meticulously examined the benefits and drawbacks associated with both SemiSub’s and MPS’ PelaFlex TLP system across various stages of operation. The report highlights PelaFlex’s significant advantages, in terms of its smaller footprint and enhanced stability post-installation – crucial for maximising turbine output, optimizing overall operational efficiency and ensuring long-term reliability of critical components. Noting options to further streamline the installation process, the report concludes that PelaFlex has potential to emerge as a highly viable solution, offering enhanced performance and efficiency across a wide range of project scenarios. Work was led by Tadek Senior Engineer Nigel Terry alongside Senior Naval Architects Diogo Nunes and Dr. Daniela Benites. It represents a highly interesting piece of analysis for the floating wind sector at large, according to Mr Terry. “We frequently see comparisons between different floating offshore wind systems, but few studies look at the key aspects we are covering which are critical to a commercially viable FOWT project. Utilising a tool developed in-house, we were able to size a Semi-Submersible floater to perform a broad series of comparative studies with MPS’s PelaFlex platform. We discovered the PelaFlex system had a greater number of advantages, including the floater size, assembly and quayside operation, due to its smaller footprint and draft, fewer components and lighter weight. In terms of overall performance, limited motions displayed by PelaFlex, resulted in greater power efficiency and greater workability potential, essential for O&M activities – which we think is vital in the overall cost effectiveness and viability of FOWT.” Read more https://lnkd.in/gyMi-nzN
