The gender pay gap is slowly closing, but workplaces still have a long way to go before achieving true equality. Fast Company Middle East is so proud of these organizations for caring for women employees' well-being, creating inclusive ways of working and doing business, and providing them with the space to think clearly, innovate creatively, and find a work-life balance. If you want to create a more inclusive workplace, address behavior, policies, and procedures that cause women employees to feel unseen and unheard. 

While women's workplace experiences are improving a significant disparity remains between typical workplaces and those recognised as Best Workplaces for Women. According to a Great Place To Work US market survey of 4,400 employees, more women at typical workplaces report receiving fair pay and experiencing psychologically healthy environments. However, these improvements pale in comparison to the experiences at high-trust workplaces. For example, companies like Cisco, Mantel Group and Henry Schein on Australia's Best Workplaces for Women list for 2023. Women at these organisations report much higher satisfaction in terms of equitable pay, fair promotions, and a supportive work environment. Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work, highlights that top companies provide "increased flexibility, equitable pay, and career support," making it far more likely for women to thrive and remain committed to their roles long-term. As we celebrate International Women's Day, it's essential to shine a spotlight on women making significant strides in various roles and industries. Traditionally, industries like health and safety have been male-dominated, but women are increasingly breaking stereotypes and excelling in these roles. The theme today is #inspireinclusion and we see women taking up leadership positions, offering expert advice, and driving change in workplace safety practices and we want that to continue. According to the latest research: Only 19.7% of employees on company or organisational boards are women. In the UK, the employment rate in every ethnic group was higher for men than women. Hiring chances can increase up to 46% for women taking part in blind applications. Ethnic minority employees hold only 1 in 16 top management positions in the UK. Only 52 out of 1,099 of the most powerful jobs are held by ethnic minority individuals. Creating inclusive workspaces where everyone can thrive is a shared responsibility. While there is often a focus on what women can do to promote equality in the workplace, it is equally important to acknowledge the role men can play in this endeavor. Men have the power to be allies, advocates, and catalysts for change in creating inclusive workspaces. In this webinar, a panel of executive coaches from the “Diverse Executive Coach Directory” explored specific actions that men can take to contribute to a more inclusive work environment where all employees can thrive. We explore: The role of men in a gender equal workplace What male allyship looks like in practice How men and women can better work together to accelerate progress Specific allyship action inside and outside of the workplace By understanding the challenges faced by underrepresented groups and actively working towards equity, men can help build a workplace that is supportive, empowering, and inclusive for all.
