Sesame Street in Communities’ Post

Children can develop empathy, practice kindness, and create a sense of belonging for all by getting involved in their community. ✨ You can help children understand that a community is a group of people who live or work together and depend on one another, such as a family or neighborhood. Ways that children can help their communities include: • Acts of kindness, like sending notes or sharing a favorite book with another child 📔 • Family help, such as household tasks like organizing ingredients when cooking 🍲 • Community connection, such as learning about nearby events and exploring a few 🏫 Small actions can have a big impact for children and the world we share! Not only can small children do all of that, but they need to foster mental health. Our brains are wired for a sense of purpose. It is how we get the neurochemicals that we need for healthy brain development. In The Resilient Mindset Model, the ant holds the tools of a healthy brain. The Merit badge represents pride, compassion, gratitude, and purpose. We need to give children opportunities to experience those early and often.
