Siniat’s metal framing products are a good example of “#circular products” and the closed loop usage model. End-of-life refers to the end of a product’s life cycle. In the case of building products, this stage is often the #deconstruction of the building it was installed in. According to the 2018 National Waste Report, we know that an average of 90% of the metal products produced in Australia are recycled at end-of-life by factories that produce new steel that then goes back into the loop. Siniat uses BlueScope steel with 25% #recycled content to make our products. We have also made significant progress in the reduction of the scrap we generate on site, with 50% less waste compared to 2016. All on-site waste we generate in the manufacture of our metal products is recycled. #Circularity is one of the pillars of the Etex Road to Sustainability 2030, and an important part of our sustainability strategy. To find out more the life cycle of Sinat products and their environmental impact, download our Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for plasterboard and metal framing from our website https://lnkd.in/gTFZYcb9.

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 'Isn’t this just greenwashing?' If there was a top three list of questions I've been asked about our transformation over the years, this one would be on it: Aren’t your efforts and sustainable products just greenwashing? A lot of times this question is packed more diplomatically of course. But it does not change the underlying concerns. And this is good! We need those critical questions to foster change and drive the transformation of the cement industry. This is why I will never get tired of answering them. I don't believe in greenwashing. We need to convince through results, let them speak for us, and be transparent on them. Just a few examples: ➪ This June saw the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cap2U project by Linde and Heidelberg Materials in Lengfurt, Germany, where CO₂ will be captured from cement production on an industrial scale and processed so that it can be reused in the food industry. ➪ We are working intensively on new types of cement with a lower carbon footprint: By reducing the proportion of limestone and lowering the firing temperature in the cement kiln, we will soon offer cement with a reduced carbon footprint from our German plant in Paderborn. ➪ We are developing renewable electricity sources in numerous Group countries. In Belgium, we were able to cover a larger share of energy demand of our cement plant in the Port of Ghent with wind energy for the first time in 2023. ➪ The binder used for our special 3D printing concrete significantly reduces the CO2 emissions compared to pure Portland cement and the process requires less material for the finished building compared to traditional construction methods. As one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturers of building materials, environmental responsibility is (and MUST be) at the heart of our business. Along with a focus on a convincing business case and all while maintaining the same high product quality & reliability that customers have come to expect from us. #sustainability #evobuild #evozero Heidelberg Materials

That's a lot of syncs! Four of our projects (two caught on camera) are in sync when it comes to their carbon savings, and if we were handing out gold medals it’d be a dead heat 🥇 Our new Dunkirk wastewater pump station in Panmure was designed so the team could slash the amount of concrete used in the build. Sustainable materials like glass-reinforced plastic were used to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 1400 tonnes. And, the team switched out traditional steel construction fencing for weather hoardings made from a combination of timber, plasterboard, packaging, and other recycled plastics. Now, to the other gold medalists which are a trio of shovel-ready projects to improve our water network in Mt Roskill. The Akarana booster pump station will have the capacity to pump up to 200 litres of water per second into the local network. It'll be brought into service at the same time as the Waikōwhai watermains project early next year, while the Wesley watermain upgrade will be up and running in December 2025. Across all three, every opportunity is being taken to reduce carbon emissions. Eighty per cent of the asphalt excavated during the construction of the new watermain is being recycled and will stop roughly 73 tonnes of carbon emissions going into the atmosphere. And, the solar-powered cabins being used at the project sites are reducing carbon emissions by 6.5 tonnes each year. So, when it comes to reducing carbon emissions it’s a win, win, win, win 👍 #infrastructure #carbon #construction #environment #CarbonFootprint #WaterIndustry #celebrate #achievement

"In the context of GREENKEY SOLUTIONS, LOESCHE provides a solution to fully recycle crushed concrete on an industrial scale to make it available for cement production." The S/Crete technology for concrete recycling, demonstrates that full-scale industrial recycling is not only possible but also highly efficient. This patented process, made possible through selective grinding in LOESCHE vertical roller mills, provides a water-free, low-energy solution with a minimal carbon footprint. The versatility of S/Crete allows it to be scaled to various sizes, including mobile plants, and is applicable to all concrete types. The resulting materials have diverse applications, potentially reducing CO₂ emissions beyond their use as aggregates in fresh concrete.
