As we close out 2024, we’re celebrating 10 years of Slate and Mortar! From our very first project with the University of Warwick back in 2014 to working with incredible organisations across Higher Education and beyond, this milestone feels truly special. This year brought plenty of challenges but also highlights we’re incredibly proud of, including: 🎓 Continued collaborations with the Universities of Warwick, Liverpool, and Leeds 📚 A new partnership with the University of Cambridge – roll on 2025! 🎥 ‘Fabulous Femininities’ receiving multiple award nominations and broadcast in the UK and Ireland 🤝 Welcoming new clients like iVvy, Funeral Choice, Air Liquide, and The Careers and Enterprise Company We’ve seen resilience, creativity, and collaboration carry us through uncertain times, and as we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited for what’s to come – including our next feature documentary! What a year! Celebrating 10 years, embracing challenges, and looking ahead to 2025 As 2024 comes to a close, we’ve taken a moment here at Slate and Mortar to reflect. This year has brought its fair share of challenges, but also some incredible milestones, exciting collaborations, and reasons to celebrate – and this felt like the perfect time to share. First off, Slate and Mortar turned 10 years old this year! Back in 2014, our journey began with a short video for the University of Warwick’s CIM team – with me still behind the camera (those days are long gone)! A decade later, we’re now proud to be working with brilliant organisations across Higher Education and beyond. Some highlights from this year… * Continued collaborations with the University of Warwick, University of Liverpool, and University of Leeds * A brand-new partnership with the University of Cambridge – and we’re excited to see where this leads to in 2025 * Projects with organisations like the University of Birmingham, Ofsted and Rationale to name just a few * Our documentary ‘Fabulous Femininities’ gained multiple award nominations and selections at 15+ film festivals across the UK and internationally. Seeing it broadcast in the UK and Ireland was a real moment of pride for our team. We were also delighted to welcome some fantastic new clients this year, including... iVvy (global venue/events company) Funeral Choice (funeral planning and guidance) Air Liquide (global leader in gases, technologies, and services) The Careers & Enterprise Company (connecting education with businesses) But it wouldn’t be right to reflect on this year without acknowledging the challenges that many people in our industries have faced. We’ve seen first-hand how budgets, briefs, and even jobs have been impacted by the economic and political climate, and like many businesses, we’ve had to make some tough decisions along the way. Momentum returned in the second half of the year… new opportunities, partnerships, and projects reminded us that perseverance, creativity, and collaboration can pave the way forward – even in uncertain times. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re feeling optimistic. We’ve got new collaborations, exciting projects on the horizon, and our next feature documentary in the works. As we continue to grow the scope and scale of our work, we can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds.
