✨ Meet Anabelle! ✨ From working in e-commerce fashion and jewellery, to volunteering at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Anabelle’s passion for art, styling and helping others led her to Smart Works. After moving to London, she joined us as a dresser last summer and hasn’t looked back. Like our clients, Anabelle's experience has been 'life-changing'. She says, "It's fulfilling, challenging, and incredibly rewarding." She loves seeing clients leave with newfound confidence and encourages anyone thinking about volunteering to go for it! “It’s amazing to connect with clients and see them walk away feeling more confident and happy. Collaborative brand strategy advice and design for founder-led and purpose-driven creative, tech and third sector organisations. Helping you re-cast your brand, re-focus your business and do more of the work you love.
A classic case of design for your audience, not your trustees or staff! This is resolutely designed for young people, even designed by young people... Great work by The Clearing on the new Barnardo's brand identity. This is an excellent example of co-creation taken to its natural conclusion. A different child drew each letter of the wordmark – each letter captures a different emotion and simultaneously reflects diversity in such a fun way. I love how the third sector is moving with the times and being as brave and bold as the commercial sector. https://lnkd.in/dDbwi_MQ #barnardos #charitybranding #thirdsectorbranding

Here's why it's so important to NOT be a hater: I wasn't selected as a finalist for the Achievement Award, a $200,000 grant. However, hanahana beauty, a business that I love not only for the products but also the founder, Abena, was. In order for her to win the grant, she needed to garner the most public votes of all 10 finalists. In a moment like this, you can choose to be envious and frustrated of someone else's win, or you can choose to do for someone else what you would want them to do if you were in their position. So basically Matthew 7:12. I'm not a hater, so I immediately reached out to Abena and said "girl, we gotta rally the people to help you win!" To get our followers to vote, we planned a giveaway of an Anima Iris bag and we did an instagram live together and showed people just how easy it was to vote. Our efforts were fruitful because a few days later, she sent me a video of her on stage accepting the Achievement Award!! I literally started crying, I was so so happy for her because truly when one of us wins, we all have won. A couple of days later, I learned that I was a finalist for the Fashion Trust U.S. award, another grant of up to $200,000!! To win the award, in April I will do a presentation in LA and I'm really looking forward to it. Imagine if I had decided to be a hater? If I had gate kept my audience and didn't encourage them to support her. Meanwhile, an opportunity for me to win the same amount of money was just around the corner. In a world where Black women are already severely underfunded, there is no space for competition and animosity between Black women founders. Not only is it true that when one of us wins, we all win. But my win with the Fashion Trust proves that we ALL can win. Jealously is a natural feeling. However, it's up to you to decide if you'll allow that jealously to become envy. No one likes a hater and you shouldn't want to be one either. Always fight against hater energy !!! TLDR: I am always cheering on other women to win, *especially* when I don't win #founderstories read more about us :) https://lnkd.in/gj44BXgf https://lnkd.in/gUtr_Qku

🌟 It’s Giving: Brat Summer, Kamala Harris, and Business Innovation 🌟 With the rise of Brat Summer, inspired by Charli XCX’s electrifying album “brat,” we’re seeing a cultural shift and significant impacts on business trends. Here’s how Brat Summer is influencing the business landscape and creating new opportunities: 1. 💚 Lime Green Everywhere: This vibrant color is dominating branding and marketing, capturing younger audiences' attention. Charli XCX’s lime green wall from her album release, which went viral on social media, is a prime example of this trend. 2. 👗 Messy Chic Fashion: The carefree, eclectic style of Brat Summer is inspiring fashion brands to adopt more relaxed, authentic looks. This trend is reflected in the rise of graphic T-shirts, Y2K-inspired fashion, and even cigarette-themed accessories, embracing a more rebellious aesthetic. 3. 🗳️ Political Impact: The viral tweet “Kamala is Brat” has created a unique blend of pop culture and politics. Kamala Harris’ campaign has embraced this trend, illustrating how cultural movements can influence political narratives. 4. 🤝 Philanthropy and Collaboration: Charli XCX and Billie Eilish recently donated 10,000 pairs of underwear from Charli’s ‘Guess’ video to support victims of domestic violence. This charitable act underscores how trends can drive positive social impact and align with broader business and cultural initiatives. In summary, Brat Summer is more than just a trend—it’s driving business innovation through vibrant aesthetics, social media engagement, and cross-industry collaborations. Companies can leverage these elements to enhance their brand presence and contribute to meaningful causes. #BratSummer #BusinessTrends #Marketing #Fashion #SocialMedia #Politics #Philanthropy #Innovation

Happy International Women’s Day! 🙌 This #IWD we wanted to celebrate not just the amazing women we have working at cain&abelDDB, but also look back at the pioneering women in the film and advertising industry who have helped forge the way and change the industry for the better. We asked all the women at our agency to come together for a special one-off photoshoot. We then asked everyone to highlight historical women in the industry who they’d like to champion and we’ve photoshopped them into our shoot. Featuring a diverse range of women from across the recent past, find out more about them below! 👇 Barbara Gardner Proctor – An advertising legend, Barbara was the first African American woman to own and operate her own ad agency (Proctor & Gardner). Paula Scher – Paula is a famous American graphic designer, painter, and art educator who revolutionised the graphic design industry for over four decades. Madam C.J Walker – Madam C.J. Walker was an African American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist. Inventing her own line of hair products, she established Madame C.J. Walker Laboratories. Dorothy Arzne – Dorothy was one of America’s most prolific film directors. Dorothy ALSO invented the boom-mic after attaching a microphone to a fishing rod to record better sound as her cast moved and danced across the stage. Mary Wells Lawrence - Mary became the first woman to found, own and run a major ad agency (Wells). She was also the first woman to be CEO of a company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Eliza Jane Nicholson – Eliza became the first female publisher of a major metropolitan newspaper in the United States (The Daily Picayune), as well as a published poet. Tara Sinha – One of the legends of the ad industry, Tara worked at Coca-Cola in the 1970s & 1980s, before becoming the first woman to set up a national advertising agency in India (TSME). Helen Lansdowne Resor - In 1908, Helen became the industry's first female copywriter. Resor made sure to hire & mentor many more women, thus ensuring the female voice was represented in the industry. Caroline Robinson Jones – Caroline was the first black female executive of a major advertising agency (BBDO). Throughout her career she fought to create more diverse representation for people of colour and broke glass ceilings at numerous agencies. #CreativeIdeas #BrandStorytelling #ContentCreation #AdCampaigns #DigitalMarketing #AdCreative #BrandBuilding #AdvertisingAgency #IWD #InternationalWomensDay #InternationalWomensDay2024 #history
