4 Trends in Sustainable Site Design: By Laci Budd, CPSM Technical Contributor: Mike Makris, P.E. Sustainable site design is a hot topic in the AEC industry. As Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects, and Planners, we are challenged to integrate conservation into site design, preserving the natural features of the land. We must also think about ways to improve design to promote a […]

Having just returned from UKREiiF, this post is timely as I have been discussing surveys for constraints reports with a number of clients. The more certainty that can be created within the design phase, the more certainty of costs and hitting deadlines at build stage. If you know all your obstacles and barriers to development before you start and give yourself the time to design them out or mitigate them in some form, you're on to a winner. That's how we can help, we give you surveys with the data on that highlights where the issues are on your site, allowing you to make the right decisions. Simple really. #designconstraints #siteconstraints #construction #civilengineering #architecture
Before starting any construction project, it's crucial to identify site constraints. Our latest article highlights the importance of comprehensive surveys for guidance reports. These surveys map out risks like underground utilities, drainage, existing structures, and topography, helping design teams mitigate hazards and plan efficiently. 🔍 Learn more about how constraints surveys can benefit your project: https://lnkd.in/ebq_dh76 📞 01928 734473 📩 surveyors@powersuk.com #PowersSurveying #ConstructionPlanning #SiteConstraints #SurveyReports #ProjectManagement #Architecture #CivilEngineering #Construction

Continuing B&J's Civil Lunch & Learn Series, Civil Engineering Director Ed Melo, PE, QSD and engineers Casey Durham, and Carolina De Biase delivered an informative talk on how Low Impact Development (LID) is incorporated into projects with site size constraints like "Casa De La Luz" located in Los Angeles. With a pop of color, "Casa De La Luz" is making waves with its 5-story residential and retail design. With the building footprint occupying almost the entire area within project limits, the challenge lies in embracing required Low Impact Development practices with limited space. In this case – the solution is through an advanced Rainwater Harvesting System nestled under the subterranean parking level, designed to optimize sustainability and efficiency. #civilengineering #lunchandlearnhashtag #professionaldevelopment #structuralengineering #landdevelopment

Civil engineering|+4 years of experience in Civil and environmental engineering | AutoCad, Civil3Ds| Increasing project assessments by 20%
If you ask me why I like civil engineering, I'd say it's because of its awe-inspiring buildings, intricate roads, railway, sturdy bridges, and innovative structures. Moreover, what truly fascinates me is how rapidly the field is advancing, with recent engineering endeavors prioritizing sustainable development and integrating it into their construction practices. It's truly amazing to be part of a profession that not only shapes the landscape but also strives towards a more sustainable and resilient future. #civilengineering #roadconstruction #sustainableinfrastructure #environmentalengineering #architecture

Geotechnical and Land Contamination surveys Should you do them at the same time? YES In this short video I explain why they should be done at the same time and how you can save a substantial amount of money and time by completing them together. Suggested Steps 1) Complete a Land Contamination Phase 1 report This will highlight the need for an intrusive contamination survey. If potential contaminants are identified then you will need a Land Contamination Phase 2. If potential contaminants are not identified then you will not need a further contamination survey 2) Complete the Geotechnical survey either with or without the Land Contamination Phase 2 depending on the findings in point 1 above. #Multiplesurveysoneplatform Follow ➡️ #renkapplatform #sitesurveys #planning #construction #propertydevelopment #ukhousing #landsurveying #brownfield #architect #planner #projectmanager #property #architecture
