The Water Utilities Alliance (WUA) further strengthened their existing collaborations by signing an MOU on 19 June 2024 during the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2024. The MOU was signed by members to optimise plant operations further for improved drinking water quality and process efficiencies using PWNT’s CeraMac® and/or SIX® technologies. Key areas of cooperation include data sharing and exchange on operation experience, R&D and training.   Signatories to this MOU are the PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency’s, South West Water (SWW), Scottish Water (ScW), Severn Trent Water Limited (STW), and South Staffordshire Plc Water (SSW). Collectively, the Utilities represented employ technologies developed by PWNT to supply millions of households, delivering over 500 MLD by end 2024.    As Facilitator to attain the aims of the MOU, PWNT (part of Nijhuis Saur Industries and SAUR) shall support the maximum scientific and technological co-operation and exchange of the WUA for the continued improvement of water treatment technologies.    This MOU paves the way for more Utilities to collaborate for the wider application of advanced and sustainable ceramic membrane based drinking water treatment technologies worldwide.    #water #watertreatment #collaboration #waterinnovation #missionwater 

🌊 Tseung Kwan O Desalination Plant begins delivering fresh water! 🌊 Binnies is thrilled to share that the new Tseung Kwan O desalination plant has commenced delivering fresh water to 137,000 homes across Hong Kong, marking a significant milestone in the region's quest for a reliable and sustainable water supply. Utilising cutting-edge reverse osmosis technology, this project represents a collaborative effort between the Water Supplies Department (Hong Kong) and RSK Group company, Binnies Hong Kong. Construction was initiated in December 2019, and after four years of meticulous planning and execution, the plant is now operational, providing a stable source of fresh water to meet the increasing demands of a growing population amidst climate change challenges. ANDY KWOK, Managing Director. Binnies Hong Kong emphasises the critical role of the plant in addressing water challenges in Hong Kong, including erratic rain patterns and severe droughts. The commissioning of Tseung Kwan O signifies a crucial step towards water sustainability and security, aligning with the government's water management strategy. This remarkable project stands out not only for its innovative technology but also for its commitment to environmental responsibility. With a focus on energy efficiency and resource conservation, the plant incorporates solar panels for renewable energy, water recycling and reuse processes, and water-saving devices, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. Looking ahead, the Water Supplies Department (Hong Kong) is already planning the second stage of the plant, indicating a long-term commitment to meeting water needs of Hong Kong sustainably. Cambodia's Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, Hem Vanndy, has announced significant investment plans for the country's clean water sector. Hainan Litree Purifying Technology Co., Ltd, a global leader in membrane technology, has announced plans to invest between $50 to $100 million over the next three to five years to improve water supplies in areas where access to clean water is scarce. The company's ultrafiltration (UF) membrane products have been installed in many provinces and cities in Cambodia, enhancing water treatment capacity to 11,000 cubic meters per day. The investment will focus on regions where access to clean water is scarce due to inadequate public or private water utilities. Hainan Litree is committed to aiding Cambodia in solving clean water issues and conserving water resources, aligning with the country's strategic goals for sustainable development and environmental management. CWP introduces new catalogues of solutions. The Catalan Water Partnership is a first level cluster that joins innovative companies and the best knowledge centres for sustainable water management. Catalonia is placed in the Western Mediterranean basin and, thus, water management is a concern for its inhabitants and public authorities. This is why the CWP got accredited as Cluster Management Excellence Gold Label and is a key member of the Water Europe network. Hydroo is a member of the cluster and proud to actively collaborate with it. Recently, the CWP has created a Catalogue of Digital Solutions to support the general use of digital technologies in the integral water cycle management. Additionally, a new Catalogue of solutions and services to fight the recurrent Mediterranean drought conditions appeared. Hydroo water technologies contribute to spread the high-end water solutions provided by our partner companies according to the main strategic axis of the CWP: shared value and cooperation, R&D&I, circular economy, industry 4.0, internationalization and business development worldwide. #hydroo #pumpingsolutions

Hard to believe it was over 20 years ago that Aquatech built the worlds largest industrial waste water desalination plant in Singapore with the highest recovery of global tertiary waste water reclamation supporting industrial growth and economic development by selling reclaimed water to industry at a lower cost than imported water from Malaysia. Who says the water industry lacks innovation? Who thinks the world cannot solve water scarcity challenges? Singapore doesn’t have freshwater reserves and their deal w/Malaysia ends in a few decades, so the city-state is cultivating “national taps” and deep infrastructure. It’s smart, in part b/c: • There’s no silver-bullet. Instead, planners have built infra around water catchment, recycling, desalination, and imports • They’ve roped industry into the process to defray costs and build IP. They now host over 200 water companies and 20 research centres (in a city of just six million) • They expect their citizens to play their part. Rationing is even taught in elementary school Granted, Singapore is a small, wealthy city. Few could fully emulate their approach, either b/c they lack the funds or political will. This grant call falls under the Competitive Funding for Water Research (CWR) initiative, which is funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF). There are two tracks under the RFP – the first solicits for novel ideas and technologies with focus on R&D areas as follows: - Desalination, water reuse and used water treatment - Waste reduction and resource recovery - Decarbonisation - Water quality and security The second track focuses on translating and scaling up promising technologies with the end goal of commercialising or integrating the solutions with PUB’s operations.
