Everyone at dsm-firmenich shares the mission to have a positive impact on the world. With this in mind, we sent a delegation of leaders to the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland. This year, our CEO, Dimitri de Vreeze, had the opportunity to talk about the challenges of innovating in Europe and, in an interview, spoke about the importance of the intersection between people, the planet, and profit. He offered Bovaer® as a clear example of innovation in this regard – which unites these three fronts and represents much of our innovation pipeline – and the need to call for waste and emission reductions. He also emphasized the importance of transforming talk into action when we refer to sustainability. Also in our delegation, Sarah Reisinger, Chief Science & Research Officer, spoke about the relationship between climate change and sustainable nutrition in a panel moderated by Katharina Stenholm, Chief Sustainability Officer, stressing how environmentally responsible food production is a key to better quality of life and making food more accessible to everyone. Katharina also spoke in a discussion about plant-based foods, sharing what our food engineering has achieved in this area. Finally, the forum was also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to and collaboration with the World Food Programme in the development of nutritional solutions focused on children's development. This is a fundamental pillar in building a better world. We took a message to the WEF, summed up in Dimitri's words: less talk, more action. For those who know me, this resonates a lot with my way of acting. That is what we are doing, and when I see our leaders setting an example and positioning us as a benchmark at the world's largest economic forum, I feel privileged to be part of dsm-firmenich. I am convinced that we are, in fact, shaping the future. Let’s us act more and plan less! Are you ready to contribute? #davos #wef #economy #sustainability #technology #innovation

Excellent article from Mirjana Prica in InnovationAus.com Yes we desperately need to rethink our industrial ecosystem. #rethinkinnovation Whilst other "nations are approaching industrial transformation from different perspectives, all are focusing on innovation ecosystems as a contemporary way of building the industries and technologies of the future." Unfortunately we have not been doing this in Australia - we prefer to stay in our comfortable silos. IMHO this is a result of a commodity economy dominated by inbound innovation. #inboundinnovation As Sally-Ann Williams points out, our future depends on system not silo thinking https://lnkd.in/gZpbN5Ed #systemsthinking "Yet the world is a complex system of interconnected parts. The deep tech innovations solving problems in such a world therefore also require complex, interconnected systems." The idea of a connected innovation system was posed by Jason Mingo https://lnkd.in/gaieznfe With an example of the UK Catapult System by Joseph Brookes https://lnkd.in/g7ApW4g9 And John Sheridan who has posting several articles on the subject https://lnkd.in/gtfPhYxd The challenge facing innovation in Australia was the subject of my article on Hidden, Fragmented and Unconnected. https://lnkd.in/gV2S7AAw #hiddeninnovation But if we are to rethink our innovation ecosystem then the first step is to understand what we current have. To map out the ecosystem. Chad Renando recently updated his innovation map - article by Peter Roberts https://lnkd.in/gcf79v-G And Stephen Dawson launched the WA innovation Ecosystem - article by Brandon How https://lnkd.in/g_7pGr27 and my own attempt to map out the NIE around #criticaltechnologies https://lnkd.in/gwUEED8j So if we all agree that we need to change the way we think about our national industrial/innovation ecosystem - can we actually agree to do something about it. 😀 #nationalinnovationecosystem
