. . . Breaking news: I have got a very good story that you may cover in your news media. A leading US-based #Muslim-operated #humanitarian organization committed to delivering relief and international development projects worldwide, including significant initiatives in Bangladesh from January 27 to 30. Its leadership team will visit Bangladesh to officially launch an impactful new project called “Clinic on Wheels” (CoW). This initiative aims to address the critical #healthcare gaps in rural and remote areas of Bangladesh by providing essential medical services directly to #UnderservedCommunities. The project will deploy a fully equipped mobile medical team to rural districts, including Tangail, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, and Sherpur. The Clinic on Wheels will include: - A large van equipped with basic medical facilities - Two physicians - One medical assistant - One midwife/nurse - Basic medical equipment for field-based patient care - Necessary medications for distribution at camp locations The project aims to deliver monthly medical campaigns, providing prescriptions and medications to over 3,000 patients in remote areas. Additionally, the initiative will engage local volunteers to support the camps and train some community members to become paramedical assistants, fostering long-term health awareness and capacity-building. 🎉 50 years of #GIZ in Nepal! For five decades, we have been working with our local partners to create positive change – whether in energy supply, economic development or the health sector. ✨Meena Kunwar Joshi is an impressive example of such change: the ophthalmologist and deputy director of the Nepal Armed Police Force Hospital in Nepal has optimised the hospital's waste management together with GIZ. The result? A modern learning centre for environmentally friendly and safe waste management. ❓Why is waste disposal so important for the clinic? And how does a learning centre like this work? New article! In our latest article in the Special Issue of the Indian Journal of Medical Research on Implementation Research, we highlight the perceptions and practices of remote rural and tribal communities in Maharashtra and Odisha regarding snakebite envenomation. We document various cultural practices, myths and beliefs of people for the prevention and first aid of snakebite. We provide crucial insights for reducing the snakebite burden via the Barrier to Prevention and Barrier to Management frameworks that could be used by researchers in all high burden regions globally to design snakebite control strategies. Clinical research is vital for advancing healthcare! 🩺 It leads to new medicines and better treatments for a wide range of illnesses. But did you know that participating in clinical trials can also give access to cutting-edge treatments unavailable elsewhere? 🌟 Sikhs in Clinical Research (SICR) is committed to bridging the gap in awareness within the Sikh community. Historically underrepresented in clinical research, our goal is to: ✅ Educate the community about the importance of clinical trials. ✅ Provide resources in English and Punjabi for better understanding. ✅ Empower individuals and families to make informed decisions. Through community events, outreach, and on-the-ground camps, we: 📖 Explain what clinical research involves and its benefits. 🤝 Foster trust by addressing questions and concerns. 🔒 Highlight the rigorous safety measures in place to protect participants. But that’s not all! We’re also inspiring the next generation to explore careers in healthcare and research. By encouraging youth to get involved, we’re building a future where the Sikh community is actively represented in healthcare. Exciting Research Announcement! I'm thrilled to share the publication of my latest research titled "An Investigation on the Lighting in Jordanian Hospitals, Focusing on Daylight and the Preferences of the Staff" in the Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine. This study explores the profound impact of natural daylight on the well-being of both hospital staff and patients. Our findings highlight that access to natural light significantly enhances comfort, reduces stress, and improves overall health outcomes. For hospital staff, natural light contributes to increased job satisfaction and work efficiency, while patients benefit from shorter recovery times and improved health conditions. Key takeaways: ✅ Natural light enhances mood and reduces stress for staff and patients. ✅ Well-lit environments lead to better health outcomes and faster patient recovery. ✅ Effective daylighting strategies are crucial in hospital design to foster healing and operational efficiency. This research underscores the importance of incorporating natural light into hospital construction and renovation projects, advocating for windows, skylights, and reflective surfaces to create therapeutic environments. I extend my gratitude to my co-authors, Marzuki Ibrahim and Fatema Yousef Kassawneh, and the institutions involved for their invaluable support.
