Today is the birthday of The Dimock Center’s namesake, Dr. Susan Dimock! Dr. Susan Dimock began her studies as an intern at the New England Hospital for Women and Children, now known as The Dimock Center. She became the hospital’s first resident physician and one of the first female physicians in the US recognized as a surgeon. Dimock crossed the threshold of the male-dominated world of medicine and became an internationally renowned doctor and surgeon, creating a legacy which has empowered women for generations to come. We are so grateful for Dr. Dimock’s countless contributions to the medical field and are honored to carry on her legacy today! #TheDimockDifference #WomensHistory

Free and accessible ways to optimize your #brainhealth: * Contact with #nature - The practice of #forestbathing has been linked to better physical and #mentalhealth including lower blood pressure and cortisol levels. * Social connection - Loneliness is a risk factor for poor health outcomes including premature mortality. Social #connection has been shown to improve #healthoutcomes and workplace productivity. * Movement - Moderate movement - for example, #walking - increases levels of brain derived neurotrophic factor, promoting the growth of new brain cells. Since the cortisol released during high intensity exercise might counteract the effects of BDNF, it is recommended to incorporate moderate #movement as part of a well-rounded fitness plan. * Environmental health - Indoor plants can help improve our #wellbeing. It's important to remember to intentionally take breaks from the stress! Many thanks to the Center for BrainHealth and Dr. Sanjay Gupta for a wonderful presentation on neuroplasticity and brain optimization! We blend human ingenuity with next-gen technology to delivery end-to-end payroll, human capital and finance management solutions to organisations worldwide
His contribution and influence in the field of medicine are indeed immeasurable, and the country needs talents like him,
Dedicating a lifetime to research, Edward S. Cooper, M.D., helped the medical field identify and understand how racial differences affect stroke in Black individuals and other understudied populations in health care. The findings mobilized both public health and individual provider responses to these challenges. Dr. Cooper served more than 40 years as a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania and 25 years as a committed trustee at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Recently, at the age of 97, he announced plans to step down from that role. Dr. Cooper’s impact endures, and we look to his example as Penn Medicine works to strengthen health equity.
