‘This product is sustainable’ = Weak 🤷♀️ ‘We’re on our way to becoming sustainable’ = Weak 🤷♀️ ‘We care about our gender equality’ = Weak 🤷♀️ ‘This product is made of 100% recycled materials’ = Strong 🧐 ‘This year, we’ve invested in electric vehicles and energy efficiency. As a result, we’ve reduced our carbon footprint by 12% compared to the previous year.’ = Strong 🧐 ‘Last year, our gender pay gap was reduced to 10%’ = Strong 🧐 Specificity attracts attention, sales, and engagement. The time of 'stakeholders don't care about the details' has long passed. A European Commission study from 2020 found that 53.3% of the environmental claims they examined were vague, misleading, or unfounded, and 40% were completely unsubstantiated.
