⚓ Safety First: Protecting Lives at Sea. As a Life Raft Technician at SEAFLOAT MARINE SERVICES LTD., let me spill the beans on what our daily mission is all about: keeping our seafaring friends safe and sound. Imagine this: life rafts are not just bouncy structures; they're the superhero capes of sailors. And guess what? It's our job to make sure those capes are in good shape, ready for action for emergencies. Every day on the job is like being a guardian of the ocean, armed with a toolkit instead of a sword. We meticulously inspect and satisfy these rafts, making sure they're as tough as a sailor facing a storm. From inflatable chambers to intricate release buttons, we've got it covered! It's not just a profession; it's a commitment to those who earn their livelihood on the ocean waves. We function as the behind-the-scenes crew, ensuring a seamless continuation of the maritime performance. In a realm where safety holds the highest priority, we stand as the uncelebrated heroes in the background. Our dedication sends waves of assurance, quality and constructing a safety shield for our seafaring companions. ⚓🌊 #SeaSafety #LifeRaftTechnician #SeafloatMarine.

Following up on the Day of the Seafarer, we are happy to share one more safety tip. 🚢 This one is from #Captain Valerijs onboard #CoralActinia. He's passionate about promoting safety awareness. During a lifeboat drills, the crew practices how to respond to emergencies. His safety tip is: 🌟 "Everything seems fine until it isn't. But that doesn't mean that everything is really all right now”. 🌊 Captain Valerijs reminds us that awareness is key. While many incidents are attributed to human error, there's a vast sea of challenges that seafarers face every day, often behind the scenes. 🧭Let's raise our awareness, support each other and navigate the future with safety in mind. 👉 In case you missed our video with Safety Tips, click here to watch: [youtube link] #Safety#Drill #CoralActinia #Everybodyhomesafe #AnthonyVeder #NavigatingtheFuture

The chief mate (first mate), second mate, and third mate are the several ranks of mates. The chief mate, often known as the first officer, is in control of the ship's deck department, which includes the deck crew and cargo. They are responsible for managing environmental protection, safety protocols, cargo operations, and navigation. Mates help in docking, oversee the deck crew, monitor the ship's location, rotate watches with the captain and other officers, and make sure the cargo is stored appropriately. They are essential to preserving the stability and safety of the ship, particularly while transporting dangerous materials. It is necessary to have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and additional training to become a mate. #mate #chiefmate #firstmate #shipdeck #deckdepartment #environmentalprotection #safetyprotocols #cargooperations #navigation #docking #watchrotation #shipstability #maritimesafety #navalarchitecture #marineengineering #marineengineer #sammarine #bunkersurvey #news #onhirebunker #offhirebunker #trustisthebeginning #maritimeindustry

Hi Fellow Seafarers! Today, I'd like to share an essential #CrewTip that I've learned through my own experiences. When you're working in the tight quarters of a vessel, setting clear personal boundaries is as vital as checking the weather forecast before you set sail! Why, you ask? Well, let me break it down in simple terms: 1. It Prevents Misunderstandings: Just like charting your course on a map, setting boundaries helps everyone on board understand what's acceptable and what's not. No one wants to navigate a sea of confusion, right? 2. It Avoids Conflicts: Clashing with your shipmates in cramped spaces can lead to rough waters. 3. Clear boundaries help maintain a peaceful coexistence, even when things get choppy. Always have bullets in 3’s So, here's the deal: Always make sure to respect each other's personal space, clearly communicate your limits, and be ready to adjust your sails when necessary! By doing this, you ensure smooth sailing and harmony on board. And remember, a united crew is a happy crew!

#Seafarer #appreciationpost Bring the kids and some of their friends to the fairgrounds at Bergen Havn today I came across this good angle of a photo. While the rest of us got to enjoy the fun of the merry-go-rounds in classic #Bergen weather (?) of +23 degrees and sunshine - several offshore #PSVs and #AHTS vessels were moored alongside with #crew after crew conducting routine maintenance, tasks I can and only assume must have been inferior to the joys happening 10-15m from ship's side or the joys of a cold drink of one of the quay side restaurants And although the vessel owners, like DOF and Sea1 Offshore probably much rather would see the vessels working commercially #offshore I think the entire industry recognises the importance of the #teams of seafarers focusing on these key activities that build #safety culture, #maintenance focus and keep these assets in prime condition to serve the offshore #energy markets. #Seafarers 💪🏽

Entrepreneur II Ex-Chief Engineer at Anglo Eastern II Mission to create a community for seafarers where right guidance is easily available, with an aim to develop purpose driven leaders.
Ship to Shore !!! The most general progression for a Chief Engineer is to become a Superintendent , if he wants to quit sailing. Many of my friends became Supdt. , gave their best shot for 6 months and then joined back on Ship. Once you fail, your chances of taking risks reduces. My friend who joined back on Ship, said " Brother shore job is not mean't for me". One bad experience and we give up on our dreams to shift to shore. Well, now let us try and solve the problem by helping seafarers make well informed decisions. For Marine Engineers, this FREE Course will help you make better decisions: https://lnkd.in/gEpYvn6S For Deck Officers, this FREE Course will help you make better decisions: https://lnkd.in/gFWT2u7S Capt. Gaurav Rana helped us immensely by sharing his knowledge and making over 60 videos with us over a period of last 4 months , with a vision that "no seafarer follows what others are doing , looks for options and choices that suits him the best, makes well informed decisions and moves ahead in life." Looking forward to Industry experts for diving deep into the course and sharing their feedbacks. #shiptoshore #shippingindustry #maritimeindustry

“What would I learn If I could start over as a Deck Cadet?”🚢 The first time you step up on board a ship - the most exciting moment for each seafarer. You were studying for years just to have an access to the terminal gate! Crazy, yeah? 😂 Knots 🪢, basic navigation 🧭, theory of ship’s construction - that’s all subjects I still remember from the college before joining of Sailing Training Vessel as a Cadet. Question: “Was there enough hands-on knowledge for the first months on board?”. No! Studying for a profession at university provides a foundation of knowledge and skills, but may not fully prepare you for the practical, hands-on experience of a real job. Following areas of basic knowledge should be covered and won’t let put you upside-down 👌🏻⤵️ ▫️Definitions of all Maritime Conventions and it’s structure ▫️Ship’s construction - what’s the Panama lead, bollard ▫️ Abbreviations like ECR, EG room, CPA, TCPA, ▫️FFE and LSA equipment ( Fixed and portable fire extinguishing system, Lifeboats, Lliferafts, fire hoses etc) ▫️Safety precautions during ship’s operations ▫️ Lifeboat equipment ▫️ Dangerous works types / Basic definitions of Risk assessment ▫️ Navigational and GMDSS equipment Do you have something to add?
