Last weekend, over 300 participants laced up for competitive races and a mass walk at The MINDSET Challenge (TMC) 2024 to raise awareness for youth mental health. This annual flagship event by MINDSET Singapore and the Jardine Matheson Group was graced by Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development. Funds raised from TMC will support DigitalMINDSET, a nine-month intervention programme by TOUCH Community Services and MINDSET for youths aged 12-21 who have developed mental health issues from excessive gaming and device use. Since 2019, DigitalMINDSET has worked with families to empower over 400 youths with better emotional regulation and control over their devices. At TOUCH, we are grateful for the continued support of the MINDSET team and the Jardine Matheson Group as we work towards expanding the reach of DigitalMINDSET and making a tangible difference to the local mental health community.

Conversations around mental health should happen all year round—not just in October. Beyond Blue understood this well. Post-COVID, demand for their 24/7 Support Service surged by 18%, creating an urgent need for funds to meet current and future demand. Enter Big Blue Table: a powerful peer-to-peer campaign that brought people together in over 2,100 gatherings to break through the stigma around mental health. Surpassing its target by 86%, Big Blue Table raised $560,000 and laid a foundation for ongoing conversations, with 98% of hosts planning to continue the following year. We’re honoured to have worked with Beyond Blue to bring this impactful campaign to life – it offers a model that other not-for-profits can adapt to make lasting change too. Hi TV’s Head of Channel, Danu Innasithamby, has partnered with World Vision Lanka through the *Every Mind Matters* initiative to uplift the mental wellbeing of children and youth in Sri Lanka’s North. This campaign addresses the region's high rates of mental health challenges, including trauma, vulnerability to abuse, and suicide, with solutions rooted in sports-based engagement. Since its launch in 2023, *Every Mind Matters* has raised awareness and funds through marathons, providing schools and youth clubs with sports equipment and coach training. The initiative aims to inspire children to overcome their circumstances, embrace positivity, and dream big, planting seeds of hope for future generations. Danu, deeply connected to the North’s struggles, calls this partnership a step towards transforming lives and fostering peace in the region. #SuccessStory #DanuInnasithamby #WorldVisionLanka #CatalistMedia

You Can Flourish is Warwickshire’s only dedicated mentoring service for girls aged 10 to 18 aiming to nurture self-esteem and mental wellbeing. Through one-to-one mentoring programmes and bespoke workshops for parents and caregivers, they help young girls live to their full potential and get to where they want to be. Last year, 88% of girls saw improvements in wellbeing and 100% of teachers and parents felt better equipped to support girls. There is an escalating crisis in young people’s mental health, and You Can Flourish are experiencing unprecedented demand, with referrals up 125%. Their IT systems aren’t fit-for-purpose in a time where they need to scale. They will use our funding to implement a CRM system to increase efficiency and strengthen income to unlock growth. Research shows that people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other types of neurodivergence are more likely to experience mental health difficulties than the general population. That includes depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance misuse, and feeling like ending their life. Neurodivergent children are often aware they are 'different' to most of their peers from a young age. Difficulties with academic skills like concentration, reading, and maths can contribute to anxiety at school and low self-esteem. Unusual social behaviours can leave children socially excluded or even bullied. Demand outstrips supply for neurodevelopmental assessments, and there is very little funding within the health or social care system to support neurodivergent children or adults. Families can be left for years battling to get a diagnosis, or an EHCP, all the while their child is unable to access an education. This takes its toll on the mental health of the whole family. And the impact on mental health continues throughout the lifespan. Neurodivergent children become neurodivergent adults, and the transition from child to adult services can be tough. There is even less support available for adults than children. Adults diagnosed later in life may also have additional mental health difficulties from never quite knowing why they didn't 'fit in' or why they weren't the same as everyone else. They always felt that there was something 'wrong' with them, and never knew why. Neurodivergent people and their families can often end up socially isolated, feeling that they are struggling alone, and that there is no help out there for them. You can help us to help neurodivergent people in Kent. Donate now to help us run our first peer support groups and play sessions. These aim to bring people together to share their experience, and support their mental health. With enough donations, our fledging organisation can begin to make a difference through: -peer support groups for adults with autism and ADHD -peer support groups for parents -play sessions for SEN/neurodivergent children -emotional support -information sessions Even £1 can help. Thank you. Please be aware that The ND Harbour is an unregistered charity. We have applied for registered charity status. https://lnkd.in/eKE3BvJf

What role does hope play in your life? Whether at the forefront of your thoughts or not, hope significantly impacts millions of individuals. It serves as a driving force behind human pursuits, inspiring the belief that tomorrow can be different and propelling us forward. Even if not all hopes materialize, taking hopeful actions and engaging in deliberate practices are essential for manifestation. In this light, the Road2Hope Marathon stands as a tangible initiative for fostering hope. On November 2-3, 2024; 4,000 individuals will partake in the marathon in Hamilton, Ontario, with many dedicating their efforts to promoting hope and community well-being. Notably, one focus area involves raising funds for mental health services, acknowledging the exacerbated mental health challenges globally due to COVID-19. Mental health is undeniably vital to our overall well-being. As physical activities like running aid in building resilience and overcoming life's obstacles, professional support remains crucial for many. Statistics reveal that one in three Canadians will encounter mental health issues in their lifetime, underlining the widespread impact of such challenges. Reflecting on my personal journey of embracing outdoor running during the pandemic's peak in 2020, it became a pivotal tool for resilience-building. As part of my community involvement, this year, I am fundraising for mental health services at the Shalem Mental Health Network. I firmly believe that mental health care should be accessible to all, without forcing individuals to choose between basic needs and therapy. Considering the prevalence of mental health issues and the importance of support within our communities, I encourage you to share your perspectives. Moreover, I extend an invitation to join me in contributing to mental health services, advocating for a more supportive and resilient society. You can donate here: https://lnkd.in/gnMauDux

I've cycled 4000 km along the German, Danish, Swedish, and Finnish Baltic Coast in the last 70 days. And besides seeing beautiful landscapes, meeting kind and interesting people and getting to know myself better, I have raised over 2400€ for StrongMinds and the Happier Lives Institute to improve access to mental healthcare worldwide through research and scalable interventions. Here's why I think that this is incredibly important: - Depression and anxiety cause more significant reductions in life satisfaction than debt, divorce, unemployment, Parkinson’s, or Alzheimer’s, and can lead to severe human rights abuses like being chained or caged. - One in nine people globally has a diagnosable mental health disorder, contributing to 5% of the global disease burden and 15% of all years lived with disability, likely underestimated due to underreporting of suicides and self-harm. - Most individuals with mental health disorders, especially in low-income countries, do not receive treatment. Mental health spending in LICs is only $0.02 per person per year, and funding is disproportionately low compared to other health issues. - Effective mental health interventions exist and can be scaled up through methods like task-shifting, where lay health workers provide therapy under supervision. - Stigma and misconceptions about mental health prevent individuals from seeking treatment and lead policymakers to deprioritize mental health, perpetuating the cycle of stigma and inadequate care. (source: https://lnkd.in/dKxXJZXc) Can you help me to get closer to my goal of raising 8000€ = 1€ for each cycled Kilometer? And btw. I'm matching all donations. How incredible would it be to raise 16.000€ together?! So go check out my fundraiser at https://lnkd.in/dWDdCQGP #cyclingformentalhealth #givingwhatwecan #effektivspenden

We're cracking on with our #Movember deep dive, and here are today's results! Last week we asked you a series of questions surrounding mental health in construction and the trade. We are committed to positively impacting the industry by supporting charities such as The Lighthouse Charity, Movember, Mates in Mind, and Mind. These organisations provide vital support to tradespeople, addressing mental health, well-being, and financial hardship. The Lighthouse Club offers emotional and financial assistance, while Movember raises awareness of mental health and physical health challenges. Mates in Mind promotes mental health education in the construction sector, and Mind Charity provides resources to help individuals manage their mental health. Together, they foster a healthier, more supportive environment for tradespeople. Today we have found that 61% of men in construction and the trade said that dedicated spaces for men to talk about their mental health is VERY important! And we agree. Do you agree? And, if so, how do you think we should tackle this? Comment below to join in the conversation.

💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚 I'm proud to be running the 2024 TCS NYC Marathon with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - NYC chapter. NAMI-NYC provides free support, education, and advocacy to families and individuals affected by mental illness. As some of you know, my family has faced unimaginable challenges navigating mental illness, especially during the years leading up to my brother Tom's tragic passing in 2017. In many ways, it felt like the system failed us, as adequate support and resources were difficult to access. These experiences have inspired me to run my first marathon with NAMI-NYC. Their services would have been invaluable during those difficult times. Join me in this journey by donating to my fundraiser (https://lnkd.in/eQuCWAKf). Every step I take in training and every dollar raised for NAMI-NYC helps ensure that no family has to navigate mental illness alone. Let's run towards a future where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accessible world for those struggling with or impacted by mental illness 💚 #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #NAMINYC #NYCMarathon 1 in 5 individuals in the United States lives with a mental illness. The other four are family, friends, colleagues, neighbors. We all deserve culturally responsive, accessible health and mental health care — and NAMI-NYC has been at the forefront of that fight for over 40 years. Excited (sore) doesn't even begin to cover it! I’ve joined forces with the brilliantly named team "Ketchup, If You Can" to tackle the Push-Up Challenge 2024. Alongside the powerhouse team of Cleo Shaw, Chloe M., Chloe Holzheimer, and Kate Broome, we are on a mission to rock out 3,249 push-ups in just 24 days. Why such a precise number? Each push-up represents a life lost to suicide in 2022, and we’re pushing hard to lower that number. This challenge is a perfect mix of grit, perseverance, and a serious cause. It’s about strength, awareness, and most importantly, support—support for mental health and each other. Join the fun, make a difference, or just cheer us on. Every bit of support counts and we appreciate it all! Check out how you can be part of this important cause. Let’s push limits, push boundaries, and push up! 💪 #PushUpChallenge2024 #MentalHealthAwareness https://lnkd.in/g-KbCJdT
