Lights, camera, action! We’ve been filming a super special showcase video for one of our fabulous public sector clients and I've realised that it’s the small, simple things that can make the biggest difference… 1️⃣ Chatting off camera isn’t a waste of time. Making the effort to get to know each other a bit before hitting record makes people much more comfortable and relaxed. 2️⃣ Challenge the stereotypes. For example, I gave men the encouragement and freedom to talk about juggling work and family life, and women the space to talk about their career progression. (Imagine that!) 3️⃣ Comfort is key. Some of the people we interviewed asked what to wear or how to position themselves. Giving them the autonomy to decide how to show up made everything feel more natural. 4️⃣ Thank you matters. The colleagues who volunteer to get involved in filming and photography should always be praised and appreciated. It’s not time off work, it is work! #Directing #Interviews #Learning #Comms #PublicSector #PublicSectorComms #ShowcaseVideo #RecruitmentVideo

I don't usually post on here, but I was just thinking about something and I'd like to get the 2 cents of people on here. With the way the animation industry is currently, which I doubt I have to go into further detail about, the more jobs I apply for I find myself becoming increasingly more exhausted by corporate, professional language that, for some reason is "expected" in resumes; especially cover letters. I have heard from multiple people looking for jobs right now, that cover letters are really what drive them up the wall. I just applied for a role at Sony Pictures Animation as a production manager, a job that I would jump up for in a heartbeat, whatever the project was. It could be spiderverse babies for all I care. While writing the cover letter, I allowed myself the freedom to write it as I would speak, how would I actually talk to these people? How can I convey who I am through this letter? Because isn't that what we're supposed to be doing anyway? I feel this might set us apart, give us a voice that is different than the corporate diction that people seem, almost, socially obligated to upheld. Allow yourself the freedom of individuality, without the fear of sounding OH NO "unprofessional". and, with all due respect I haven't met one animator that wasn't sick in the head in some sort of way, so professionalism is a bit of a farce once we get inside the studio anyways.... Just some thoughts

Since leaving Imperfects in 2023, I've been applying what I learned running shipping and inventory operations consulting on a variety of projects with colleagues and friends running brands and community based businesses. Excitingly, one of my favorite growth moments in the past few months has been working with brands to build a creative production equation and deployment strategy that feed the ever-hungry content machine while also delivering on RoI. 18 c. Agency works with brands to produce creative, effective content, deploy such and, if you're in growth mode, hone your operations stack. Let's connect if you're hungry to chat brand growth, content or operations!
18 c. Agency is a team of creative consultants who work with fast growing brands to increase the RoI of creative content through a measured approach to photo and short form video production. We also work with product based businesses to improve efficiency in our operations consulting. For our colleagues across LinkedIn, we're looking forward to connecting with you. Cheers!

As a #brandmarketer, you know that *consistency is QUEEN 👑 * Dishing out some tips for creating consistency throughout your visuals 📸 over the next couple of weeks and my first tip is ⬇ When you are sourcing a photographer or videographer, after you peruse 👀 portfolios, interviewing candidates is the next crucial step, but one that is often skipped. Beware of cutting corners on the interview process 🚩 because this is THE #1 step that will ensure consistency.....Why? Because you’ll create a repeatable process with questions that are asked every time you are sourcing a new photographer or videographer. If you’re qualifying your candidates based on the same set of criteria each time, then you’ll ensure the people you hire are going to be consistent in capabilities, values alignment, and skill. Here are a few nuggets for discussion during your interview 🗣 - Dig into their process. How do they prepare for a shoot, what materials do they provide and what do they ask that you provide? - What are the different types of styles they've captured? - Find out how many individuals are on their team - Inquire about other projects they’ve done that align with what you’re looking to achieve - What type of equipment do they have? What is their turnaround time? - Ask for references!

"I don't approach candidates with weird profile pictures," said the Hiring Manager and missed out on a great candidate that 100% matched their job opening. In a world where looks open and close many doors for us, there is one thing I would like Hiring Managers to reconsider. Their approach to evaluating profile pictures. It would solve the problem of insufficient qualified candidates. 👌🏻 A selfie can be fine enough 👌🏻 A picture from an industry event too 👌🏻 Picture showcasing one's hobby as well 👌🏻 No picture - I don't mind The pressure to have the perfect profile picture is so high that some choose what they have to show something at all. Let's appreciate that and I am sure we will have a few more qualified candidates to approach 🙌🏻 What do you think? #profilepicture #bewerbungsbild #bewerbungsfoto #picture #smartistone

🎥 Founder at Storyflow, the most expensive video team. Bridging the gap between ‘what’s cool’ and ‘what works’.
Stop disrespecting people to justify your low resources. I’ve heard it all: - Social media managers just scroll all day. - Photographers have just expensive equipment. - Actors are not really needed, we just want people to stand there. - Makeup Artists? Tell the actors to do it themselves, they’ll do a similarly good job. - Lighting team? We’ll use natural light why we need them? - VO actor? I’ll record it myself, I have a good voice my mum said. - Music, plenty of non copyright and free on YouTube why to pay someone £500 for that. Stop, stop, stop. There is nothing wrong with low resources, budget, or inexperienced teams. Most of us have been there. But disrespecting individuals and job roles to justify your desire to cut corners… It’s really really bad. Your reputation is everything. Protect it from the start. That’s it, that’s the post.
