On Wed I'll be facilitating this webinar featuring Minnesota Department of Health statewide health assessment and the impact of systems on health and Health in All Policies. More info and registration below: Wednesday, September 11, 2:00 – 3:00 PM (EDT) Register here: https://lnkd.in/gUbpShtJ Minnesota’s statewide health assessment tells the story of Minnesota’s health across multiple topics. Produced by the Minnesota Department of Health and a group of cross-sectoral organizations called the Healthy Minnesota Partnership (the Partnership), the assessment informs statewide action plans for improving health in Minnesota. In the most recent assessment, three new Policy Profiles explore the connection between health and three select policy areas: paid family and medical leave, tree canopy cover, and broadband internet access. In an effort to uplift the impact of systems on health and Health in All Policies, these profiles explore how policies, at the local, state, organizational, and national levels, influence health and well-being. They also explore who is impacted by policy areas and how these may contribute to health inequities. Profiles were developed collaboratively and included steps such as identifying topics, consulting about data with subject experts at other Minnesota state agencies and drafting and editing the profiles themselves. This presentation will provide an overview of the template and process for developing these profiles and an opportunity to apply the approach on a policy area relevant to your area of work.

MPM, MScPH, PhD(c), REA, REB, EnP • Public Health Policy | Health Financing | Health Systems Strengthening | Land Economics and Health
In this latest work, we've embarked on a pilot of an integration model for public health and primary care interventions and the potential it holds as a proof of concept for delivering and financing integrated health services in the country and globally. Our study highlights the need for extensive government support at every level, the crucial role of community engagement in co-designing the process, and addressing broader health determinants through evidence-based policies and multi-sectoral actions to make integration work. Let's continue our efforts to establish a primary healthcare-oriented health system that will not only enhance our response to future health emergencies and outbreaks but also accelerate #UHC for all. “Understanding gaps in access to health-care services is critical. We believe every hospital and health system should be able to report on who is and is not being served to understand and better plan and orient services," says Aliya Allen-Valley, Research Lead at THP's #InstituteForBetterHealth and lead author on a new publication in Research in Health Services and Regions. As the first hospital to integrate inequity measures into its operational strategies, THP sets a precedent for other health systems, signaling a shift towards proactive measures aimed at reducing disparities. The paper highlights the importance of measuring and monitoring inequities in order to address the health needs of our diverse communities. Global Health, Health Systems Strengthening Advisor | Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist | Health Systems Thinker | Primary Health Care Advocate
As we recognize the importance of strong primary health care (PHC) systems in low- and middle-income countries, it is time to go beyond advocacy. In this new perspective article published in Frontiers in Public Health, we highlight the need of structural changes in the post pandemic-era. We propose five gamechangers to facilitate structural changes for strengthening PHC through a focused health systems approach. Adopting the gamechangers must be contextualized to the needs and opportunities of local health systems. This will not only improve health but will contribute to more resilient health systems to absorb future shocks and long-standing health system stressors. I recently read the Times Health Commission report 2024, which is a comprehensive analysis of the state of health and social care in Britain today. The report is based on the insights of experts from various fields, such as clinicians, business leaders and academics. It offers recommendations on how to improve the quality, efficiency and sustainability of the NHS and social care system. The report covers topics such as digital transformation, workforce development, prevention and public health, funding and governance, and innovation and research. It also highlights the challenges and opportunities posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Brexit and climate change. I found the report very informative and insightful, and I think it is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the future of health and social care in Britain. Key Findings: The report examines the challenges and opportunities facing the NHS and social care sector, such as ageing population, chronic diseases, workforce shortages, funding gaps, digital transformation, and innovation. Recommendations: The report proposes a number of recommendations to improve the quality and sustainability of health and social care services, such as increasing public spending, reforming the tax system, integrating health and social care, empowering patients and staff, and fostering a culture of collaboration and learning. References: The report contains many references to support its analysis and arguments, such as academic papers, official statistics, expert opinions, and case studies. #TimesHealthCommission #NHS #SocialCare #HealthPolicy #Healthcare You can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eGMgRjwq #Integration #Interoperability #TimesHealthCommission #NHS #SocialCare #HealthPolicy #Healthcare Geri Boynova Mike Symers ReStart - Interoperable Digital Care
