In this ENC analysis, Dr. Sideri examines how film festivals in the southeastern European periphery contributed to the transformation of #Thessaloniki🇬🇷, #Sarajevo🇧🇦 and #Tbilisi🇬🇪 into regional film centers. The paper studies the ways film festivals, especially film markets, became a tool for cities to address economic and political challenges raised within the framework of #Europeanization 🇪🇺 but also, how the past through cultural memory seems to entangle with these changes and become an important factor for the transformation of these cities.

Marking its one-hundred-and-twentieth anniversary in 2024, the FIM is proud to release a unique film documenting its twelve decades in existence and its ground-breaking advances in the world of motorcycling that extend far beyond competition into areas as diverse as safety, technology, sustainability and inclusivity.
Presented by Swiss actress and model Lauriane Gilliéron who wears period-appropriate clothes in each of the six scenes, ‘FIM 120 Years’ was premiered at the weekend’s 2024 FIM Commissions Conference in Lyon, France, to rapturous audience applause. Illustrated with superb period photographs and rare vintage video, in just over eight minutes it documents one-hundred-and-twenty years of progress, achievements and passion.
• Locarno Film Festival Team: 57.4% of the staff that makes the realization of the event possible are women, showcasing our commitment to equal opportunities.
• Selection Committees: the two official committees that select feature and short films are gender–balanced, consisting of 4 men and 5 women.
• Juries: the official juries that select the winning films of the 77th edition are composed of 8 women (including the Jury President of the Concorso Internazionale) and 9 men.
→ 7 out of 17 films in Concorso Internazionale were directed by women (41.2%) and 1 film is a mixed co–direction (5.9%)
→ 7 out of 15 films in Concorso Cineasti del Presente were directed by women (46.7%)
Bravo to the Locarno Film Festival team for gathering this data and making significant strides for diversity. Gathering diversity metrics should be something every festival should engage it. Absolutely stunned by Locarno's leadership in paving the way forward.

Armenian cinema is 100 years old!
On November 2 and 3, Prasad took part in the international congress dedicated to the centenary of Armenian cinema in Yerevan. I express my deep gratitude to the organizers for the invitation and the efforts that NCCA is making to restore Armenian cinema masterpieces. The conference discussed issues of preservation, digitization, restoration and distribution of Armenian films. Prasad presented technical solutions for this important mission. We are proponents of the philosophy of scanning once at the highest resolution of 8K or more. Thus preserving the audiovisual heritage for future generations, preserving the original, and being ready for new broadcasting and distribution channels. Conversion from 8K allows you to get a super 4K file containing more information than traditional 4K.
