"Innovation" is today's dynamic market is the buzz word and given we are in a Digital era, this cannot exclude AI . I have come across large organisations investing resources to set up Innovation Hubs/ Labs and yet most of them fall short on delivering impact in the business growth. For example a Healthcare set up getting starry eyed to implement a AI -Telemedicine tool without a Data & Digitisation Strategy, or a Pathology Service Lab investing time and efforts of its talent in evaluation a AI solution while still being on glass slide process. Pursuing disruptive ideas without a sight on medium term and long term strategy can very quickly drain organisation's resources with no meaningful outcomes. Embedding Strategy into Innovation process helps prioritise, allocate resources , building teams and and scale up . We honor the spirit of innovation that has driven progress throughout history. From ancient discoveries to cutting-edge technologies, innovation continues to shape our world. 🕰️ A Brief History of Innovation: Innovation has been the cornerstone of human advancement. Throughout millennia, our ancestors pioneered tools, agriculture, and engineering marvels that propelled civilizations forward. The Industrial Revolution sparked a new era of innovation, setting the stage for modern advancements in science, industry, and beyond. What does innovation mean to you ? 💡 Defining Innovation: Innovation is more than just a buzzword; it's the relentless pursuit of improvement through new ideas, processes, and technologies. It's about pushing boundaries, solving problems, and making meaningful change. Sure, I can’t talk about innovation without highlighting Healthcare innovation 🏥. Innovations in healthcare have transformed how we diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases. From breakthrough medications to life-saving devices, each innovation brings us closer to healthier lives and stronger communities. During my physiotherapist training and in my brief career I have figured out the huge impact of simple innovation like a shared EHR for continuous care (the model of DMP in France). Innovation comes oftentimes from serendipity though we need interdisciplinary approaches to bring it to life. 🌐 Impact of Digital Transformation (DT): DT has revolutionized every industry, including healthcare. Telemedicine, wearable health tech, and AI-driven diagnostics are redefining patient care, making it more accessible and personalized than ever before. Today is earth day and I yes, innovation and digital have real impact on our home 🌍. Certainly DT and #AI have some role to play in sustainable growth and tackling climate change. I am delighted to be involved in the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) training titled « digital transformation for sustainability. », already 3 exciting modules on the go the fourth will come out soon. On this day, let's celebrate the innovators and visionaries driving change.
