Translating theoretical breakthroughs into practical applications requires interdisciplinary collaboration, exploring commercialisation opportunities, and real-world implementation. 3. His perspective set the stage for a deep dive into how we can foster innovation in our creative industries. We had the privilege of reviewing standout campaigns, showcasing exemplary work that resonated with our members and board. Hong Kong's start-up ecosystem has demonstrated strong resilience despite various challenges - both the number of startups and their number of staff employed reached a new record high, with a total of 4,257 startups employing 16,453 staff, as revealed by Invest Hong Kong 2023 Startup Survey. Among the over 30% non-local founders, 16.6% were from the United Kingdom, ranking second only to Mainland China (21.6%). And among the 4,500 some past and current start-up / scale-up tenants at the two local incubators, 16 have been listed, nine have become unicorns, and a total of some HK$130 billion has been raised by end of 2023. Day 4 in Guangzhou: A Pivotal Day at Knowledge City 🌏 Today marked a significant milestone in our business delegation's journey in Guangzhou. As the CEO of Econn, I had the honor of presenting our company to a distinguished audience of Chinese officials and entrepreneurs. 🕤 Our day began with an early departure from the hotel, gearing up for what was to be an eventful and insightful day. 🏢 From 9:30 to 11:30, we participated in the China-Germany Enterprises Exchange Events at Knowledge City. This platform was not just about presentations; it was a vibrant exchange of ideas, strategies, and visions for future collaborations. Presenting econn here was not only a privilege but a unique opportunity to showcase our strengths and explore synergies with Chinese enterprises. 🍴 A working lunch provided a more informal setting to deepen our discussions and connect on a personal level with other leaders. 🌿 The afternoon was a departure from the boardroom-style meetings. It was a thoroughly lively discussion at the Marketing Society's event on the state of creativity in Hong Kong. As a panellist, one of the things I pointed out, to this particular audience, was that producing more creative (and effective) work was not the sole responsibility of agencies. Clients must want, must demand, better work. For that to happen there needs to be a push for better awareness of what that means. What do great advertising and online communications campaigns look like? What are the benchmarks and possibilities? Only then can those paying for it, and those producing it, begin to strive to raise the bar and stop accepting, and wasting precious money on, boring, typical, celebrity and happy happy consumer-ridden campaigns. And through that, help to improve the image of the industry so that future generations might actually want to be a part of it,

Running a #business in #HongKong with access to resources of the #GreaterBayArea (GBA) has never been easier. Here are two success stories: B+H Architects (B+H), an international design and consulting firm, established its Hong Kong base in 2012 with only one employee. It has expanded since and is currently working on two notable projects in the GBA – the Shenzhen Natural History Museum and the Shenzhen Children’s Hospital. Andrew Humphreys, principal and director of healthcare of B+H, says, “The potential of the GBA is phenomenal. If you look at the growth in terms of the population over the last 25 to 30 years, it’s almost unprecedented in history anywhere.” King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), an Australian-Chinese law firm, is another well-established firm that planted its roots in Hong Kong. Hayden Flinn, the co-chief executive of KWM’s Hong Kong operations, says, “It was a strategic decision that centered on how Asia is more important to Australia than the UK or the US.” And within this business strategy, “Hong Kong is very much the center of our network.” Check out more on the stories of B+H and KWM: https://lnkd.in/gupnJ82F
