Remember the iconic Concorde Supersonic Jet? The one that could fly faster than any other commercial airliner? Unfortunately, despite its fame and luxurious appeal, the company faced various challenges, ultimately leading to its demise. The cost of flying Concorde was exorbitant, with the price of fuel being a significant hurdle. The aircraft guzzled an astonishing 6,771 gallons per journey! Additionally, due to the powerful shockwave it created, the jet could only fly supersonic over the ocean, causing numerous noise complaints from cities and making it impractical for heavily populated areas. Unfortunately, such a groundbreaking invention couldn't sustain its success in the long run. Still, business sustainability requires more than just one pioneering idea. Our Innovation Hub is gearing up for a 🚀 #HAO higher airspace operations simulation with the Italian CAA! 🇮🇹 👉 A real-time simulation project for #HAO and commercial suborbital flights in Italian airspace kicked off last week at #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub as part of a special agreement between ENAC - Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile (the Italian CAA) and EUROCONTROL. The project team, composed of ENAC representatives led by Giovanni Di Antonio, FRAeS, Director of Technological Innovation, alongside personnel from ENAV (the Italian #ANSP air navigation service provider) and Aeronautica Militare (the Italian Air Force), met to define the operational scope of the simulation. 🚀 The simulation aims to explore the accommodation of suborbital transport operations in Italian airspace, including the future Grottaglie Spaceport. It is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, and will be performed in close cooperation with the SESAR 3 ECHO 2 project and the EUROCONTROL #NM Network Manager's iNEO strategic project. The collaboration 🤝 between ENAC, ENAV, Aeronautica Militare and EUROCONTROL represents a concrete commitment to enabling new modes of aerospace transportation in Italy. The project will leverage the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub's simulation platforms, aligning with our strategic objective to first accommodate & then integrate new entrants into airspace. 👉 More info: Stefano Tiberia

If you were asking why and how the winged seahorse is linked with Air France, you can watch it below.
L’hippocampe ailé, également connu sous le nom de “crevette”, a été le 1er emblème d’Air France en 1933. Depuis, il n’a jamais quitté les avions de la compagnie et certains autres équipements. Et vous, où l'avez-vous déjà vu ? The winged seahorse, sometimes referred to as “the Prawn,” was the first emblem of #AirFrance in 1933. Since then, it remains on company aircrafts and essential equipment. And you, where have you seen it before?

Power...... The Rolls-Royce (Bristol Siddeley) Snecma, Olympus 593 engine. Four fitted to the Anglo-French Concorde. Each engine produces over 38,000lbs of thrust with re-heat on take-off, accelerating Concorde at an average fully loaded weight of 182 tonnes to a rotation speed of 250mph in around 40 seconds. Yet during the supercruse at Mach Two, around 1350mph the engines are only providing around 35% of the thrust, the remaining thrust is down to the very clever intake system, which slows down the air entering by 1000mph in just 11 feet. Quite remarkable and way ahead of its time. From the future Operated in the past...... Great overview of NBAA's AAM panel by Dawn Zoldi. Of note for those interested in AAM is the diverse estimates for normalization of operations in the US and worldwide. While there seems to be momentum developing towards an accelerated certification process, it will be interesting to see how actual deployment timelines match up with projected ones. What about AAM and its future are most interesting to you?
At NBAA's BACE event this year, industry leaders explored the exciting future of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). The discussion, led by Robin Riedel (McKinsey & Company), featured experts like Tim Arel (Federal Aviation Administration), Dan Dalton (Wisk), Dan Elwell (Joby Aviation), and Oliver Reinhardt (Volocopter). Discover the key takeaways from their AAM insights 🚁 in my latest on DroneLife.com: https://lnkd.in/eBQrQhci #NBAA #BACE #AAM #Aviation #Innovation
