With more than 46 million Americans living in #rural regions and facing challenges in accessing quality health care, this research sheds light on one promising solution. The findings emphasize the importance of 340B in bridging #healthcare gaps.   That is why we continue the fight to #Protect340B. 

A recent study conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine revealed nearly 800,000 Americans suffer from a permanent disability or have lost their life because of a medical misdiagnosis. The top five most misdiagnosed diseases? 🚩Stroke 🚩Sepsis 🚩Pneumonia 🚩Venous thromboembolism 🚩Lung cancer According to the director of Johns Hopkins Diagnostic Excellence Center, “Diagnostic errors are, by a wide margin, the most under-resourced public health crisis we face.” The story from Business Insider includes helpful questions patients can ask their physicians to avoid a misdiagnosis. As this study in JAMA highlights, while improving diversity in #clinicaltrials is an important first step to eliminating disparities in care, it's not enough to guarantee equal outcomes. Life sciences professionals across the ecosystem need to work together on comprehensive solutions that address health inequities throughout the spectrum of care -- not just during a clinical trial.

United States Core Data for Interoperability Plus Cancer (USCDI+ Cancer) is a recommended minimum set of key cancer-related data elements to be included in a person’s electronic health record. 📌 It allows health care providers to share health information seamlessly, advance equity in treatment, and improve care and outcomes for people facing cancer across the country, especially in rural and underserved areas. 📌 Standardizing data across electronic health records also opens new possibilities for faster research results and more effective public health interventions. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is extremely emotional and can also be accompanied by so many additional concerns - which apart from concerns about the impact on those close to us, rely very heavily on our personal financial situation. Therefore employers have a very important role to play here. This is an interesting article about how employers can help those who are working with cancer. #health #wellbeing
