Chairman @ Autonomy Institute | Industry 4.0 Fellow: Building Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zones ARPA-I
Some good quotes Börje Ekholm. INTELLIGENT INFRASTRUCTURE will Build Stronger and More Connected Nations! We are failing to densify NextG wireless, deploy 5.9G to optimize mobility and save lives, get broadband for all, deploy Edge Computing with a national M2M GRID, deploy terrestrial enhanced GPS, support resilient micro-grid, . . . As digitalization continues to grow, it's vital for Europe to prioritize investment in high-performance digital infrastructure to ensure future competitiveness, technology leadership, and decarbonization goals. Currently, Europe lags behind the USA in digital infrastructure investment. It is crucial for Europe to lead on innovation, not regulation, and for European policymakers to drive change. The collaboration between Ericsson and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) is pivotal for our ability to make these necessary investments towards the next step in digitalization and the green transition. I had the honor of discussing the importance of digital infrastructure investments and Europe’s role in the world at the NIB seminar on the new geopolitical reality and its impact on the Nordic-Baltic region. Dear Africa, we can’t just be consumers of this new era—we need to own and build the infrastructure too! Yet again, I’m excited to be part of the DTG (Digital Transition Generation) as we navigate its two key phases. The first phase, known as the #MentalDigitalShift, marked our transition from BC (Before Computers) to AD (After Digital), with the rise of the internet establishing a new foundation for everything that followed. This shift involved moving from analogue thinking to a digital mindset. Now, as we enter the second phase—triggered by the Covid pandemic—we are stepping into the #AIGlobalShift. In this new era, AI is being built on the internet’s foundation, creating an incredible new structure for the present and future. The opportunities within the #AIGlobalShift are vast and promising. It’s crucial to embrace this change, adapt to it, and position ourselves to benefit from this exciting new era, also known as the #DigitalValueEconomy. By doing so, we can drive positive change, develop innovative solutions, and make a real difference to society and future generations. The future is bright and full of potential! 3 words people #AIGlobalShift #cta101

In collaboration with the RadicalxChange Foundation, and Rio's Institute of Technology and Society (Instituto de Tecnologia e Sociedade (ITS Rio) we gathered leading contemporary thinkers to share perspectives on emerging technologies and innovation in Brasilia, Brazil. Audrey Tang, former Digital Affairs Minister of Taiwan, and E. Glen Weyl Weyl, founder of the Collaboratory for Plural Technologies at Microsoft Research were there and the exchange resulted in a report capturing the critical policy discussions. In today’s fast-evolving digital landscape, full of challenges, addressing issues such as technological sovereignty, disinformation, and polarization is essential. The exchange of experiences and insights is crucial to fostering innovative solutions. The report Plurality: Technology and the Future of Democracy offers insights structured around three main themes: Disinformation, Technological Autonomy, and Participation. Each section explores specific challenges raised by the participants, providing practical recommendations for promoting a more resilient digital infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/e3g22EMW

As Börje Ekholm says, action is needed to strengthen European digital infrastructure, enable telecom industry growth, and increase the region’s competitiveness. Our next-generation smart factory in Tallinn, spanning 50,000-square meters and expected to be operational in early 2026, is a fantastic example of how Ericsson invests in a sustainable, high-tech future for Europe. It will serve a collaborative space for pioneering development and techniques that support Ericsson’s and our customer's Net Zero journey, and it shows how critical digitalization is to our future. https://lnkd.in/dtrFhpFm

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) is representing Namibia at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-24). The assembly, running from 14-24 October, provides Namibia with the opportunity to engage with global leaders on shaping the future of technology. Namibia's participation highlights its commitment to contributing to the global agenda of developing meaningful technical standards. This global event gathers policymakers, industry leaders, and ICT experts to discuss and establish international standards that will drive innovation, support industry growth, and build trust in emerging technologies. Through its involvement, Namibia aims to align with global best practices and explore standards that will strengthen its digital infrastructure, drive economic growth, and support technological advancement. Namibia’s participation positions the country to influence standards affecting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and the metaverse. Additionally, this presents an opportunity to form partnerships that support Namibia’s ICT priorities, promoting sustainable development and digital inclusion. Report: Dolly Menas
