#ReducingFoodWaste The Role of Product Development. #Foodwaste is a major crisis endangering the food system. One of the holistic approaches to combating this menace is #innovative #food #product #development. Food product development (R&D) can be used to upcycle unavoidable food waste into value-added products. For example, #fruitpeels could be #transformed into #pectin and #fibre, which are natural raw materials required for other processes in the Food Industry. R&D also contributes to reducing greenhouse emissions through the development of #optimized #processes that minimize waste generation and disposal. Product development also explores affordable smart packaging to prevent food waste. Innovative Food Product Development is not only a channel to #foodsecurity and #sustainability but also a route to conserving the environment. #foodinnovation #productdevelopment #Research #foodchemistry #foodsafety #zerofoodwaste #foodsustainability #Technology4Development #productdeveloper #GirlsinSTEMS

This article from Food Business News discusses how clean labels are more than the ingredients in your food - they're also about the manufacturer's commitment to providing cleaner food solutions. A reduced carbon footprint is an important component of clean label packaging, which is one of many reasons why our crops are grown with regenerative agriculture practices and under identity preservation. We work directly with food manufacturers to help meet the sustainability and clean label needs of consumers.

September 29th marks the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (#IDAFLW). Let’s talk about solutions! 🌱👇 At Agrain, we are committed to turning what’s traditionally seen as “waste” into valuable resources. An estimated 13% of all food produced is lost in the supply chain before reaching retail (FAO), including millions of tons of spent grain from the brewing industry. Instead of letting this grain go to waste, we have carefully designed and developed a method to upcycle it into a nutritious and sustainable functional flour. 🍞🌾 By transforming spent grain into delicious ingredients, we’re not only reducing food loss but also helping to create a more circular food system, where resources are continuously reused rather than thrown away. Want to know more about how upcycled flours can contribute to a zero-waste future? Visit www.agrainproducts.com to read more and discover our mission and products! 💪 Let’s celebrate this day by embracing innovation and finding value in the sidestreams of our food systems. Together, we can build a better future for food! 🌏 ♻️ Every grain counts #FoodLoss #FoodWaste #Impact #Agrain #Flour #Sustainability #Upcycling #SpentGrain #BSG #WasteManagement #ZeroWaste #UpcycledFlours #ZeroWasteFuture #FoodSecurity #LocalInnovation Aviaja Riemann-Andersen Martin Thomsen Marta Benedet Selcuk Yildirim Bente Hjortskov Ema Kosova Anna Verlinde Kjell Redecker Moe Brandi Michael Forster Sepher Bashari

We're passionate about upcycling and utilising edible sidestreams in food production, but what does it really mean to consumers? 🔎🤔 At Agrain, we transform spent grain into nutritious flour, helping to reduce food waste and promoting a circular food system. But one challenge we face, alongside other innovators like REDUCED, is the lack of clear and unified labelling for upcycled food products. Without an approved certification, it’s hard to convey what “upcycled” really means. Is it 100% upcycled ingredients, or just 5%? Transparency and trust are essential to help consumers make informed choices. The U.S. already has an official Upcycled Certified™ label verified by Where Food Comes From, Inc., setting a clear standard. It’s time we adopt a similar approach in Denmark and the EU, ensuring consistency and clarity in our communication. Until then, we’ll keep pushing for a system that benefits both consumers and the industry 💪 Thank you FødevareWatch for sharing our views on this topic. I wouldn't like to think about a world without enzymes to produce our wide variety of food products! So happy to serve this world for more than 2 decades and still enjoying to the max! Two weeks ago we were having constructive meetings with our whole AMFEP membership in Valencia, next week we'll move to Parma for discussions with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) at their "Technical meeting on applications for food enzymes", see https://lnkd.in/eZryg6nm It's not about the travel as such, it's all about the importance to get the right people around the table, having face-to-face interactions to take care that the food enzymes not only keep their level playing field, but also get to the next level to keep adding to, a.o., food quality, food safety and surely to a more sustainable world! #HappyEnzymes
🌍 Happy World Food Day! 🌾 Today we want also to celebrate the role that innovation plays in making our food systems more efficient and sustainable. Enzymes, acting as biocatalysts, are an important part of this process. At AMFEP, we are proud to represent companies producing enzymes, the little helpers enhancing food production. From improving the quality of bread and dairy products to reducing waste and increasing sustainability in food processing, enzymes work behind the scenes to make the food we enjoy safer, nutritious, and environmentally friendly. #WorldFoodDay #Enzymes #Sustainability #FoodInnovation #AMFEP
