First woman in power in Mexico: It is my desire that her leadership be distinguished by her ethics and empathy, inspiring everyone with her integrity and commitment. May her work leave an indelible mark on our society, paving the way forward for future generations. As a woman in a historic position, may her example set hope and be a source of pride for all of Mexico. May her influence endure and motivate many more to follow in her footsteps, building a more just and equitable country for all. 🇲🇽

"Alone you have power, together we have force", notes Francine Brogyanyi in her Linkedin biography. Since 2019, Francine Brogyányi has been a managing partner at the law firm DORDA Rechtsanwälte GmbH. In keeping with the value she places on teamwork, which she attributes to her time as a former synchronized swimmer on the Austrian national team, she has initiated a 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯@𝘋𝘖𝘙𝘋𝘈 program with the unambiguous target of appointing more female partners at DORDA in the medium term. Her education includes, in addition to her masters in law, the Program for Executives and Supervisory Board Members of WKO “Zukunft.Frauen”.

Do you champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in your workplace? Nominate your company for one of the prestigious DEI awards at Women In Travel CIC awards in June! Alessandra Alonso shares more in the video below.
They're not looking for perfection, but rather genuine dedication and tangible actions towards fostering diversity and belonging. With just 3 tailored questions that won't take more than 20 minutes to answer, you could be on your way to winning in one of four categories: DEI Professionals Team, DEI Champions of the Year, Inclusive Talent & Recruitment Leader of the Year, and Allyship Heroes of the Year.
If you're part of a team leading the charge in driving DEI initiatives within your company, show us how your team influences and educates colleagues at all levels. If your company is actively moving from talk to action in the realm of DEI, share how you're setting the standard for inclusive workplaces and campaigns. If you've implemented innovative talent management and recruitment initiatives to harness the power of diversity, let us know how you're reaching beyond conventional channels to represent all individuals in society. And if your company excels in being an ally to women and diverse groups, both internally and externally, highlight your allyship strategies and programs.
Your efforts will be judged by an independent, diverse, and distinguished panel of industry experts (one of which is me!).
Don't miss this opportunity to stand out and inspire others! The deadline is approaching quickly.

Check out this talk from Cécile Moroni Engevik! It was SUCH a pleasure to see this talk live TEDxTrondheim.
Let's be conscious of our biases and open to seeing new possibilities.
What benefits do you see of having international and female perspectives on leadership teams? What are the consequences of not having those perspectives present?

Happy to share my TedX talk about the "Future of foreign women leaders in Norway".
Diversity and inclusion can be hard, even in a country like Norway, a front-runner as regards gender equality.
Dare to change! It's not about not having bias. It's about being conscious about them. It's a great responsibility, but if you flip it around, it's a unique opportunity to acquire talent.
Let's build bridges between Norwegian workplaces in need for more talent and resources and the amazing potential that lies in leaders with foreign backgrounds searching for new opportunities, especially women.

With only 3.4% of APS employees identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, it's crucial to underscore the importance of platforms that unite First Nations people. These forums are not just events; they're catalysts for empowerment, dialogue, and leadership that echo the need for inclusivity and representation.
The First Nations Women in Leadership Summit in Meanjin (Brisbane) on 22 & 23 May 2024, alongside the First Nations Leadership and Allyship Summit in Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) from 30 April to 1 May 2024, serve as pivotal gatherings. They bring to the forefront the resilience, wisdom, and leadership of First Nations communities, amplifying voices that are often marginalised.
Highlighting the significance of such assemblies, a Director from NDIS once reflected:
"When you bring Indigenous people together, it fills people's cups and it's a safe place to talk about our challenges, barriers, and leadership journey."
This sentiment encapsulates the essence of these summits - they're more than meetings; they're sanctuaries for shared experiences and mutual growth.
We're privileged to spotlight trailblazers like Cathy Freeman, whose Olympic legacy continues to inspire beyond the track, and Professor Marcia Langton, whose advocacy and intellect pave the way for crucial conversations on Indigenous rights and leadership.
Join us in celebrating the power and potential of First Nations leadership at these summits. By coming together, we not only honour the contributions of First Nations people but also forge a path towards a more equitable and inclusive future.
You can check out a video and both agendas here:

If you are a First Nations person I would love to connect and if you are an aspiring ally please share this with your network.

🍃 #InternationalWomensDay#EmbraceEquity 🌳
#EmbraceEquity* is this year's campaign theme of International Women’s Day ( March 8 as always), a “concept that recognizes that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome”, as IWD writes, whereas equality focusses on ‘equal’ resources and opportunities. It is such an important theme and one that of course transcends the topic of women. Ánd a topic that most likely (although we do need to believe in miracles 😃), won't be realized overnight. After all, we are dependent on a lot of ‘outsiders/others’ in this and it's not only what we can do ourselves.
So what can we do ourselves, as women, to influence our 'outcomes' right now? Where is our internal agency in this 'external' process? Cause surely, it's not only about what is provided for us, but it's as much about what we believe about ourselves and what is possible.
I have 3 suggestions and I talked about it in Rome last year at #WINconference. You see, the Roman leadership I studied provides us not only with enormously inspirational examples of female courage, wisdom and resilience but also provides us with wonderfully practical tools for our lives! In my talk, I also explain why history changed my life and why it is of such great importance in the present time for us all to #reshapeourfuture!
So, what are those 3 key learnings that have risen from my research into Roman female power and leadership that can support our own agency in a quest for #equity?
👉 Daring and innovative ways to deal with (legal) limitations and the existing strict social ideals!
👉 Great communicators (both visually and in word) of their accomplishments and roles in society!
👉 They were great ‘networkers’ and were even known to form formal ‘sisterhoods’

*“Inequity affects many people, but most commonly, historically it has marginalized communities such as women, people of color, disabled people, the economically disadvantaged, and those from the LGBTQI+ community.” Gender f.e. is intersectional, and women as a group are truly diverse. Policies that benefit white women, for example, may not benefit women of color due to historical or current inequalities. A shift from, in this example, gender equality to the process of gender equity is required for meaningful progress. For more info see: https://lnkd.in/eMk6-7Bv.

Take a look at our DEI framework!
•
On this, Dr. Mary J. Lomax-Ghirarduzzi, Vice President for DEI, says, “Our framework will resist being an add-on, it will focus on changing the system.”
