#InternetUsageIndia2023 Here's a fascinating chart that highlights how the Internet is utilized across India, from metropolitan areas to rural regions. (Note: 42% of India's population, or 596 million people, still don't have Internet access!) Recent reports estimate the total internet user base in India at 890 million, whereas the chart below is based on a base of 810 million. This study was conducted by two well-known organizations and is based on an exhaustive sample size of over 90,000 people (66,000 urban, 25,000 rural) in 400 cities across 35 states and UTs, lending credibility to these data points. While activities like #NetCommerce, #DigitalPayments, and #OnlineLearning are more urban-centric, other activities such as #OTT, #Communication, #SocialMedia, and #OnlineGaming are more widespread. Each column should be read independently. 🇮🇳 India & the Internet Boom : Key Trends from Kantar ICube 2023 The latest Kantar ICube report paints a fascinating picture of India's digital landscape! Sharing this as the 800M+ scale is not registered with many customers during my interactions. Here are some of the highlights: 📈 820 Million Active Internet Users: India's internet user base continues to surge, with an impressive 8% growth in 2023. This represents over 55% of the population! 👧 46% of internet users are women. Gender divide has narrowed over the years. 🚀 Gen Alpha Goes Online: Intriguingly, a whopping 33% of the 61 million new users are Gen Alpha (under 15 years old). This highlights the increasing digital adoption at a young age. ⏰ Urban vs. Rural Divide: Interestingly, while urban users clock in 105 minutes per day online, rural users are catching up quickly! Rural internet users are growing at a staggering 2x the rate of urban users. ✂️ Cord Cutting on the Rise: The dominance of OTT platforms is evident with 208 million (20%) internet users identified as cord cutters, ditching traditional cable subscriptions.
