Where did all the angel investors go? Angel investor participation has apparently been dropping in venture deals for years. Data from PitchBook/NVCA shows deal and dollar amounts declining below. What do we think is driving it? Thought 1: More SPVs showing less individual angel $ but its likely still the same. Thought 2: Instiutionalized (lead by a VC fund) pre-seed rounds are more normal now. Thought 3: More early-stage funds with angels moving to LP? Share your thoughts below. 👇 h/t Jackie DiMonte for sharing originally 🙌

Thrilled to announce our participation in VC Lab Cohort #17 for emerging venture capitalists! Among the many aspects that drew us to VC Lab was their championing of The Mensarius Oath - a powerful ethical framework for investment professionals. While all eight principles in the oath are fundamental to responsible investing, the fifth resonates with me daily: I promise to treat individuals and opportunities with the respect and the attention deserved in business interactions. Interactions can feel somewhat transactional in the VC world. At Wildwood, we're deeply committed to being fully present and engaged in every founder conversation. While we constantly strive to raise our game, we believe authentic engagement is non-negotiable. Link to the complete Mensarius Oath in the comments below.

It's one thing to know the difference between US and European markets. But is there also a difference between US and European founders? Here's part 2 of a clip from Hanel Baveja of Creandum VC sharing her thoughts on what she's seen as some key differences between the two based on working on both sides of "the Pond." Hanel was part of our expert panel of VCs, hosted by Jonny Seaman of SeedLegals, who did this in collab with us and Notion. Also on the panel were Laura McGinnis of Balderton Capital and Oli Hammond of Fuel Ventures 🚀. Watch the full video on our fundraising workshops hub.

Last week, we had our first Online Workshops with cohort 6 of Time to Raise. We had the pleasure of listening to Joel Uddén at Ventech and discuss the topic of Meeting Investors - What to Prepare. The workshop was very interactive and some of the key takeaways were: ➡️ Understanding what type of firms within Venture Capital are right for you: Ferrari-firms or Fiats? ➡️ The importance of building trust over time: be on time, do what you say you will do, realistic forecasts, manage expectations, do not lie. ➡️ Have a clear communication and trust the listener! Don't explain everything. Thank you, Joel!

One of the many ways for a VC manager to improve their skills and stay up to date, is attending summits and meeting people. In person meetings and events are key to establishing long-lasting relationships. If attending a meeting or summit is not possible, going through VC Lab is another way to enhance your skills as GP of a Venture Capital Firm. This week, my fund, Danta Fund, was moved to a special group within the VC Lab program: the Impact Investors group. How fitting, being that we are an #agtech fund. I highly recommend VC Lab for all new and emerging VC funders out there. #networking #events #learning
