Philanthropy in India is evolving, with UHNIs playing a pivotal role in sustainable development. A recent report by Accelerate India Philanthropy (AIP) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) highlights that only 11% of top UHNI philanthropists contribute to environmental and sustainability initiatives. As an ecoentrepreneur, I urge more HNIs and companies to prioritize nature conservation. While other social causes are crucial, a healthy environment provides the foundation for all life—clean food, air, and water are essential for every living being. Without this, no amount of education or other social initiatives can make a lasting impact. 🌍 **#Launch: Pioneering Transparency in Climate Philanthropy** As the CEO of ICC, I’m thrilled to introduce our latest report, **“Trends in Climate Philanthropy.”** Over the past four years, we’ve been dedicated to nurturing India’s climate philanthropy ecosystem, but a significant challenge persists: the lack of accessible and cohesive data on fund flows. This report is a crucial first step towards addressing that challenge. By analyzing both quantitative and qualitative insights from 65 funders, including CSR, domestic, and international sources, we've identified three major trends in #climatephilanthropy from 2018-2023 and outlined five key takeaways for funders. Community mental health critically intersects with climate resilience and it's important to address the adverse effects of climate change on vulnerable communities. Partnering with the Bapu Trust - India, we have been at the forefront of establishing mental health counselling centres and training locals in rural areas of Western Ghats of Maharashtra. This is a crucial step towards building coping mechanisms and future proofing the communities. In addition to providing immediate solutions, our approach focuses on the interconnectedness of mental health with environment, water, biodiversity and rural livelihoods, in order to address the root cause of stressors. What does it take to move systems and scale change that sticks? The building blocks are addressing the root cause, shift in mindset and values, population level impact and sustainability.
