ONBOARD SYSTEMS: Yamaha Motor to acquire Torqeedo Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has completed a stock purchase agreement with Germany’s DEUTZ AG, which owns marine electric propulsion manufacturer Torqeedo, to acquire all of Torqeedo’s shares. Torqeedo supplies a wide range of products, from electric outboard and inboard motors to batteries and various other accessories. It also holds many patents related to electric motors, propellers and electric systems, as well as the R&D capabilities, mass-production equipment and development resources for next-generation environmental technologies. “Yamaha’s acquisition of Torqeedo supports the current mid-term plan and helps to accelerate the company’s efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050," said Ben Speciale, president of Yamaha’s USA marine business unit. "That goal within the marine market can only be reached through an approach leveraging a variety of solutions, one of which is electric propulsion." 🛥️ Did you know about our Marell high-speed boat, powered by electric Scania Group solution? 🌊 Marell Boats founder and owner Patrik Söderholm makes fast aluminium patrol boats running on electricity. In a partnership with Scania, Marell is developing hybrid and high-performing crafts.  The M17 Patrol is the latest addition to the fleet – an energy-efficient hybrid high-speed craft.  This is enabled by combining Scania’s hybrid technology with Marell’s technical boatbuilding craftsmanship. 👍 The Marell M17 is a 17.4-metre aluminium patrol boat with a speed of up to 55 knots. It has a Scania hybrid system, with two 230 kW electric machines and four battery packs with 104 kWh per battery. 🔋 The M17 is a significant milestone in Marell Boats’ hybrid and electrification journey. Non-fossil fuel regulation changes to next weekend’s World Superbike opening race rounds will help automakers develop carbon-neutral fuels for internal-combustion engines. The significance of this move is that it opens the door to continued sales of new vehicles with ICE technology beyond the European Union’s 2035 ban on all but zero-emission vehicles but excluding those burning carbon-neutral fuels.

Most importantly the hybrid 2025 Hybrid is a combo EV/Hybrid Gas Engine and still has a 2700 lb towing capacity (Turbo retains 3500 lb). Must admit this looks like a great car & like the front streamlined face over my 2023 face. Same Ground Clearance.
