Do you ever note the brand of a semi-truck trailer on the interstate? After spending an incredible summer as a finance intern at Wabash, I can't help but look for their products while driving on the road. Throughout my 12-week role, three experiences greatly shaped my internship. 1. The strength of supportiveness: Whether it was the company speak or the unique challenges of the transportation industry, my first few weeks were an overwhelming flow of information. While I did my best to intake as much as possible, my adaption to the company was only possible due to the support of my manager, Nisar Ahmed, and mentor Payton Duncan. Working with them taught me the value of asking questions, no matter how simple. Without this, I would've missed out on the invaluable mentorship I was fortunate to experience this summer. 2. The depth of diversity: Organizations are often segmented, making it difficult to collaborate with other disciplines. Fortunately, Wabash's culture placed a huge emphasis on cross-functionality. Over the summer, I had the unique privilege to conduct over 51 one-on-one meetings with professionals ranging from financial analysts to VPs of manufacturing. Wabash's emphasis on creating remarkable, collaborative teams allowed me to gain invaluable advice whether it was on my projects or my professional future. Working in this environment drove home the value of diverse backgrounds and a cross-functional culture. 3. The power of presentation: One of the primary challenges I faced this summer was telling the story behind my work. When presenting data, I would focus on the results, without diving into the underlying factors and giving a comprehensive overview. Throughout the summer, my manager gave up many hours to teach me how to present information effectively and create a compelling story behind the data I gathered. I'm truly grateful for this lesson, as I experienced firsthand the power an impactful, polished story has on your audience. This summer built me in ways I would've never imagined. Whether it was learning the business with my team, volunteering with my fellow interns, or attending lunch and learns with senior executives, my rich internship experience wouldn't have been possible without the incredible people at Wabash who poured into me. I want to give a huge thanks to Kyle Richmann, Laura Killian, and Hannah Mummert for creating this incredible program. Next time you pass a semi-truck on the road, look out for the Wabash logo!

I’m excited to share that I completed the Bright Network Internship Experience UK: Business, Operations and Marketing last week! As someone who has been quite unsure of the sector/career path I’m best suited to, this internship was the great way to gain insight into an area I was unfamiliar with. This four-day experience offered a unique opportunity to learn from professionals at all career stages. Sessions were led by top leaders and recent graduates alike, allowing me to gain valuable insights from a diverse group of specialists. Here are a few of my takeaways 💫Day 1 takeaways PwC’s audit partner, Ajay Kabra, kicked off with a keynote talk, sharing his journey to partner and demonstrating the importance of a growth mindset and the willingness to challenge oneself. Then Deloitte’s early careers advisor, Joao Martins spoke to us about leadership and whilst I consider this a strength of mine, I was able to learn a lot more and it allowed me to look within and see how I could improve in future. Lastly, I attended the Black heritage industry perspectives workshop which was my personal favourite. We were able to hear from black professionals from companies by the likes of EY, Lloyds Banking Group, Deloitte, Macfarlanes and Procter & Gamble. The panelist’s shared their experiences of being black in the industry and how to navigate the corporate field which was truly helpful. So a special thank you to Alicia Thomas, Mahari Hay, Conrad Essilfie-Conduah, Goke S. & Rachel Gbogbo-Morthy for taking the time to share your experiences and provide such encouraging advice for young black professionals like myself! 💫Day 2 takeaways Day 2 kicked off with specialists from companies such as Nestlé, Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I and AlphaSights which provided industry specific knowledge and an introduction to Business, Operations and Marketing. 💫Day 3 takeaways Day 3 was all about building resilience in which Ryan Mairs showed us as he took us through his personal journey to where he is now and spoke on navigating challenging times, building mental resilience as well as fighting against imposter syndrome and comparison. 💫Day 4 takeaways On the last day, British Airways provided a work sample in which we had to make a pitch for a potential charitable partnership for the corporation. This project provided an opportunity to apply put all we had learned into practice. Overall, this experience was extremely insightful and so I would like to thank Bright Network‘s CEO and Founder, James Uffindell, for this great opportunity! #IEUK #BrightNetwork

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 💪 Consultants at TAG looking to advance their careers can take the next step as team managers, starting with an apprenticeship, a one-year period in which they can try out the responsibilities of a team manager on the job. What are those responsibilities? Our team managers support consultants on their projects, but also help TAG grow as whole by strengthening the recruitment team and spotting sales opportunities. Consultant Lies van den Broeck started the apprenticeship this year: “I love people management but was unsure whether other responsibilities would appeal to me. The great thing about the apprenticeship is that it gradually introduces you to the different facets of the role and that you can assess for yourself after a year whether you want to take it up.” Throughout the apprenticeship, she is coached by team managers such as Martin Camerman: “I did the apprenticeship last year, so I fully understand the questions or doubts you can have. Day 2 - of the -Bright Network Internship Experince UK started strong hearing from Laura Tye and how she became the legal director at Clyde & Co, my key takeaways are to never take anything forgranted and to always be curious to learn more and branch out to different sectors This was followed by sector specific discussions, each one held by a different one of Bright Networks partner brands and presented by Rachel Delaney, the head of B2C marketing at Bright Network 💡1. Victoria Stedman from British Airways shared a great look into British Airways and her role as a Colleaugue Engagement Manager, and how British Airways faces challenges whilst maintaining their core values 💡2. Daisy Thompson the sales and sustainability lead and Juetong Liang an engineering graduate from Nestlé spoke to us about the sustainability at Nestle and how both their roles feed into this- it was a great insight into how bigger brands tackle such an important issue 💡3. Marie Fukuura the sales director of AB InBev gave us some great information about the company and other brands they work with such as Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I and how the Beer and Beverage industry works 💡4. Aileen Nathan the senior commercial director at Mondelēz International came to share her amazing journey and the story of the egg, I found the whole presentation both inspiring and captivating 💡5. Charles Frost the Client development manager at AlphaSights spoke about the sales industry and how sales profiles effect sales, we also learnt how we can use the skills learnt in sales in the world to promote ourselves 💡6. Lydia Cronin the Demand Generation Manager at Bright Network and Rachel Delaney gave us a great look into the differences between B2B marketing and B2C marketing and the basics of demand generation- As someone looking to go into the marketing industry this was a great breakdown of the roles We were then given time to network with some of the Brands, this was a great opportunity to scope out potential placement and see what different companies had to offer 🏆One of my favourites was Nestlé where I got to ask questions about the programmes they offer, I have always had an interest in Nestle, one of my favourite moment in Sixthform pre covid was having the opportunity to visit the Nestlé Crawley offices, with our Business class and we got to take part in an interactive business session, which inspired my love for marketing so a massive Thankyou to Abbie Scargill Assoc CIPD, James Olley, Nadia H. , Heather Kennedy and Jack To end the day we were given our work brief by Junior Graham an emerging talent partner from British Airways, I can't wait to complete the work sample and showcase my ideas and initiative💡

'Beyond the Blueprint' Reflecting on my internship at Castrol, which ended a month ago, I realized that some of the most important lessons I learned weren’t part of my project but were just as valuable: The Art of Small Talk: Building rapport starts with simple conversations. Small talks over tea or lunch can lead to big connections and open doors to deeper professional relationships. Embracing Serendipity: Not all learning is planned. Some of the best insights came from unexpected encounters and spontaneous problem-solving. The Zen of Routine: Finding joy in routine tasks can be surprisingly fulfilling. These routines provided stability and enhanced my efficiency. The Human Element: Beyond technical skills, empathy and emotional intelligence were game-changers. Understanding the human element in business was crucial. Celebrating Small Wins: Every achievement deserves recognition. Celebrating these moments keeps morale high and reminds us to acknowledge our progress. In the picture: My office colleagues celebrating the completion of my project with an icecream party.
