Day 1: Listening "Servant Leadership Principle #1: Listening Listening is the foundation of servant leadership. It involves actively seeking out and considering the input of others, which fosters a culture of trust and collaboration. Example: Howard Schultz, former CEO of Starbucks, exemplified this principle by holding regular open forums where employees could share their ideas and concerns. This practice not only made employees feel valued but also drove innovation within the company. Let’s strive to be leaders who listen! #ServantLeadership #ActiveListening #HowardSchultz" #starbucks #Listening

If you are satisfied with Taco Bell's pricing, then there may be no need to make changes to your our nations management team. However, as a businessman, I firmly believe that success is determined by performance and results. Unfortunately, based on performance, it seems that our nation is headed in the wrong direction. Therefore, it is imperative that we enact changes to rectify the situation. Leadership and Vision: Effective leadership is essential for guiding a our nation through challenging times. Donna, our CPO, closed out the Leading @ Walmart series earlier this week. Being in Global People, I have the joy of listening to Donna often, and this session was just as great. She focused on teams, feedback, and performance of self and others. Though I will share a few key takeaways below, one that really stuck out was her statement that "leading others is the ultimate service calling" and this holds true whether it is direct or indirect leadership. As a leader we have a lot of influence in how someone perceives themself, the work, and the company. Other key takeaways include: -Talent hording is a bad habit. Break it for the sake of the associate, and company. -Yes, hard feedback is difficult, but one of the most important things we can do. -The contribution we have to belonging in instrumental in the success of our associates and company. I am grateful for the opportunity to have sessions with three of our C-suite leaders who were all knowledgeable and passionate about their topics. This is Walmart. #TeamWalmart

Supports C-Level Leaders in establishing a solid leadership foundation using time-honored strategies
I often speak about the importance of servantship in leadership. Last weekend I was reading a story about the approach of Nordstrom, one of the world’s most successful department stores. “The company starts all executive-track employees out on the sales floor in the shoe department. They do this because they want their executives to understand customer service. They do it because they understand that going down on your knees in front of a customer is wonderful training. It teaches even their highest-level executives that the customer is the true boss”. They show and prove that understanding and living out subservience is the key to success. Let this story be the inspiration to take along in your leadership journey. Whether you have a shoe department or not, serve your clients at your finest. “True leadership means letting people around you see your ability to be subservient”. #rocksolidleadership #servantship #leadership #executivementor

Thank you Harvard Business Review for asking my perspective on one of the most important (and hardest) topics of leadership. Staying aligned with your Board, thinking long-term, moving with speed, having clarity, being empathetic, etc. - all easy to say and hard to do. https://lnkd.in/g6dt9jSb

Friday Fabrications™, by Tom When I worked at WL GORE & Associates, Inc., we had a saying: “Leaders are known by their followers”. At Gore, unless legally required, no one had a title, and the organization was very “flat”. There were many reasons for this aversion to titles, but the most important reason in my mind was that we valued everyone for who they were and how they contributed. Titles simply got in the way of communication and progress. Ask any Goreite and they will tell you that the best leaders are servant leaders; those individuals who understand that by developing and supporting others they provide true leadership. As this week comes to a close and our minds start thinking about one more Summer cookout before schools starts, I am asking you to think about what type of leader you are. Are you a leader that motivates others with a clear and compelling Vision? Is your Vision as clear to everyone else as it is to you? Or do you rely on a tile for leadership? Regardless of what type of leader you are, there is always time to change. The first step is to recognize your leadership style and to commit to making a change. I’ve been blessed to have worked with some awesome leaders over the years. My first boss out of college was, and still is, an incredibly talented leader: Jim Caprio. Jim has always been a servant leader. While Jim is immensely successful in his own right, Jim makes an effort each and every day to make those around him better. Whether it is with family, Church, or in his professional life, Jim is all about creating a Vision that inspires while at the same time providing the tools and motivation to make it a reality. Is there a leader that stands out in your life? Comment, like and share this Friday Fabrication. I want to hear your thoughts and I want to celebrate your leadership success! Take that next step my friends! #leadership #fridaymotivation #team

Leadership journeys - as unique supermarket shops 🛒 Let me explain - Imagine you and a friend at the supermarket. By the end of your shopping trip, you’ll have likely checked out with different items in your trolleys. Same store, same options but different choices. Getting back to the point 😅 — think of leadership. Just like your shopping list, your leadership journey is tailored to your needs, experiences and preferences. We can all be given the same resources but the choices we make in what we choose to take on board, learn etc will be different And that is good! That’s why so many of those “how to be a great leader” articles / resources don’t land or just feel very generic. Because each experience, team, and company is distinct. Moral of my roundabout story? Embrace YOUR leadership style I’m kind of still figuring mine out but having fun along the way :) #Design #Leadership #DesignLeadership
