The Super Bowl was last night, and as always, the internet is buzzing. The halftime performance! The nail biting last touchdown! Beyonce announcing new music! And, of course, the commercials. Which were good? Bad? Boring? You have serious money if your brand can place a Super Bowl commercial. So it's no surprise that giant brands and a few well-funded causes occupy all the screen space. But what if the little guys had an opportunity to get their message out to over 100 million people in one night? Let's dream a little. If we were in an alternative reality, what/who would you like to see advertised during the Super Bowl? It will surprise no one that I would like to see a commercial about paper. It could center around literacy or encourage people to step away from screens at least once a day to write something by hand, or even the science that shows that people learn more when reading a physical book or document than when they read on a screen. The commercial could highlight all of the incredible things that paper has made possible or even show spectacular paper art. Of course, I would make the commercial fun, engaging, and memorable. (I've only had a few minutes with my dream, while last night's ads took much longer to visualize and create.) What would your Super Bowl 'little guy' commercial dream be? Car commercials have become as cookie cutter as jump scares in horror movies. This slick spot simultaneously delivers a pointed yet humorous jab at auto ads while ultimately leaving you with a serious and lasting impression. A tongue-in-cheek "shut up and take my money" stylistic approach punctuated with an impactful social-awareness message. Good stuff, give it a watch. #advertising #commercials #clever #psa #jointheconversation

#Barbie ’s return to the limelight this year may just well see the dolls top this year’s bestselling toys, according to Regent Street retailer #Hamleys. Ahead of the Christmas shopping season, the toy seller said it expected a trend of adults seeking nostalgia from the toys of their childhoods to drive sales this winter. “We’ve closely observed the trends shaping the toy industry, including toys inspired by beloved on-screen characters and the continued kidult trend,” the retailer said. As a result, the #PopRevealFruitSeries of Barbies, at £27 per doll, won top spot in Hamley’s list of ten frontrunning toys heading into Christmas. This was up from fourth on the list in 2022, following this year’s blockbuster film, which had scored earnings of US$1.4 billion globally come September. Toys related to Marvel and Harry Potter characters, alongside Disney’s Winnie the Pooh also featured in Hamley’s top ten. More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors #NASDAQ #MAT http://ow.ly/4vbl104V5iQ

Here's one small thing we can do to make products stand out. Use plain backgrounds. The packet of crisps that you see in this spec ad has such colorful packaging. I planned to highlight that but had to keep the fun element balanced. The music (added later) would push the fun part, so instead of going with a colorful background - I chose a plain black one. Most of this is also learned intuition. The black background lets us focus more on what's happening with the product. What do you guys say about that?:) Note: This is an unofficial video (Spec work, not sponsored). Also, hello to the team at First Crop / Vishal Mega Mart (Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Limited). #specad #productvideos #filmmaking #adcampaigns #productadvertising #potatochips #commercialphotography #socialmedia

I'm always excited to post new toys at Entertainment Earth, but it's just as thrilling to re-post old ones. This Shadow Trooper helmet was formerly exclusive to another major retailer. After a few years off the market, we're selling the Star Wars The Black Series Shadow Trooper Electronic Voice-Changer Helmet Prop Replica to our retail and wholesale customers while supplies last. It's good stuff. Last week we had the plain white Stormtrooper helmet up for grabs and it sold through quickly. The previous week was a "Prototype" deco Boba Fett helmet, which was all-white like the early test footage. It also sold through quickly. Presumably this black helmet is also going to be sold out before the weekend - I've got one in white from the original run, and it looks amazing for the price and looks like a high-end collectible if you put it in a glass display case. Also, you can wear it. If you're in the toy business and scrounging for new assets to improve your numbers, ask yourself this: "Do I have anything sitting idle that would make sense to run again?"* There are a lot of great items with lots of demand out there still, and stores like Entertainment Earth and EE Distribution are here to help reactivate old SKUs and find new opportunities with work you've already done. (Heck, if I know you, I've probably called you and bugged you about this very thing.) It works, it makes collectors and fans happy, and most importantly, it's good for business. * - If you don't know if it makes sense to run again, feel free to reach out to your favorite buyers. Or if they're unavailable, I'm also here.

A USP tale. Newsflash. I’ve never ever met a guy who loves buying pants. Ladies, if you do ➡️🚩. Men, just picture it. 📸 Loud, stale pop music. Heating cranked to 120%. You’re on your 4th pair of potential jeans, praying to whatever diety will listen that they fit. Just so you can get the f*ck out the store and one step closer to getting out of that godforsaken mall. 💨 Good length, but your quads don’t fit. The horror. THE HORROR. John Carpenter can’t scare me like that level horror. You leave the mall, sweaty and frustrated. No new jeans. Mucho aggravation. Well, my latest trip to one of Europa 92 stores went like this. I briefly explain what I need, the store attendant lady uses her cyborg eyes to flash measure my sh*t and suggests 4 models. They fit like a glove for my legs and I walk out of there a happy man in like 5 minutes. This is why this ad is perfect. It doesn’t have to be about what you sell, but how you sell. USP, know it.

Every Harry Potter fan knows exactly what this is! It's been 20 years to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Warner Bros did the coolest thing. They brought to life an iconic moment from the story: Harry blowing up Aunt Marge! If you hear closely, very closely, you can hear Uncle Vernon screaming: MMMAAAAARRRRGGGEEEE 😅 #madovermarketing #advertisingandmarketing #harrypotter #outdoormarketing #socialmedia #advertising #marketing #creative #design #warnerbros

Who remembers this little fellow in the picture? Yes, it's Mr Potato Head from Toy Story! But did you know that on this day in 1952, Mr Potato Head was the first television toy to be advertised? It sold 1 million units in the first year and encouraged kids to play with their food. (𝙎𝙤 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙠𝙞𝙙𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 😂) Mr Potato Head became a part of Disney's culture when he starred in Disney's Toy Story Franchise (1995, 1999, 2010, 2019), voiced by the late Don Rickles, who died two years before Toy Story 4 was released. In 2004, a pair of Potato Heads (Mr and Mrs) sold for $8,000. The Potato Heads were created by Jay Strongwater (a jewellery designer), who made the figures out of 50,000 Swarovski crystals in 17 different colour varieties. Since Hasbro acquired the brand, Mr Potato Head continues diversifying with variations such as Optimash Prime, Darth Pater and Taters of the Lost Ark. In 2021, they dropped the Mr from the brand's name to appear more inclusive, and kids could be more "𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙" gender-neutral. By doing this, they released a family of potato heads, and you could make two fathers or two mothers. So there we have it, the origins of Mr Potato Head. #advertising #culture #inclusionanddiversity #marketing #potatoes #television 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝘅𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘆
