Woodside welcomes today’s statement from Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) and others which acknowledges that the Australian Energy Market Operator’s Integrated System Plan (ISP) “is the best roadmap we have for the National Electricity Market.” The ISP “confirms that renewable energy connected with transmission and distribution, firmed with storage, and backed up by gas-powered generation is the lowest-cost way to supply electricity to homes and businesses as Australia transitions to a net zero economy.” Like Ai Group, Woodside believes Australia needs a “certain, credible and consistent policy framework” for our energy systems. We remain ready to work with governments, industry and communities to urgently implement policy settings that will ensure all Australians have access to reliable supplies of gas and energy. The ISP has many problems just like Gencost. Corporates are too scared to criticise the government. The lowest cost electricity is a new coal fired power station at an existing coal mine.

Involving all stakeholders in policy decision-making should ultimately make supply chains more resilient, right? I'm curious, how do you see the role of technology in adapting to policy framework changes with minimal disruptions over operations?
