Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been at the forefront of EV adoption in India, emerging as a leader in hybrid and electric vehicle sales in 2023. In the first six months of 2024, 1,53,214 EVs were registered in the state, marking a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2023 (January-June 2023). The state is now gearing up for a concerted thrust in driving e-mobility adoption across all modes, with a focus on establishing robust charging infrastructure. What sets Uttar Pradesh’s e-mobility journey apart is its emphasis on decarbonizing last-mile solutions, which comprises electric three-wheelers (e-3Ws). Electric rickshaws are at the heart of this decarbonization journey, constituting 95.6% of the total e-3Ws sold between 2015 and June 2024, and accounting for almost 74% of all EVs in the state. Under the UP EV Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, the state government is offering e-3W purchase incentives of 15%, up to INR 12,000 per unit. The incentive, applicable for the first 50,000 buyers, aims to further accelerate the e-3W uptake in the state. At the recent Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India Nitin Gadkari urged the automotive industry to invest, projecting a 50% annual growth rate in EV sales by 2030. This ambitious goal aims for 1 crore annual sales and 5 crore employment opportunities. Nitin Gadkari also anticipated a reduction in lithium-ion battery costs, further propelling industry growth. According to the latest research, the electric two-wheeler market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 40.34% during FY2024-FY2031 and was valued at USD 1.16 billion in FY2023 which is forecasted to be USD 12.44 billion in FY 2031 ✴ Two key players driving this growth are Ola Electric and Ather Energy Bhavish Aggarwal successful ventures, like Ola , and his experience in running a company have helped Ola Electric rise to be a top market share holder since its inception in 2017 along with having investors' confidence in his capabilities Over the past two financial years, Ola Electric has maintained its top position in market share and its growth doesn't seem to stop. On the other hand, Ather Energy, founded by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain in 2013, started as a way to disrupt and challenge the well-established Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and replace it with an electric drive, but later they shifted to building electric vehicles. Although having a first-mover advantage the market share of Ather Energy has become stagnant at 11% for part 22 years. With the increased adoption of electric two-wheelers in both residential and commercial sectors, along with government subsidies, the goals set forth seem achievable. This transition to electric vehicles is critical for India to help reduce the negative environmental effects of a rising number of automobiles on the road. Electric two-wheelers, which are lightweight, versatile, robust, inexpensive, and fuel-efficient, are becoming a popular and ecologically responsible alternative to traditional transportation methods. Let's embrace this electric revolution and drive towards a greener future! 🌱🔋🚲 #ElectricVehicles #EV #ElectricTwoWheelers #OlaElectric #AtherEnergy #GreenEnergy #SustainableFuture #AutomotiveIndustry #India #NitinGadkari #GujaratVibrantSummit
