It’s countdown time for #XPRIZERainforest finals! 🌱 Before finalist teams make their way over to Amazonas, Brazil for testing, learn about the prize’s goals and how the competition unites nature, tech, and local communities to help enhance our understanding of the rainforest ecosystem.
“The aim of the competition is to survey as much biodiversity as possible. Loads of species are out there that remain undiscovered, and we need to build up those databases and those libraries so that we know what those species are before they disappear.” - XPRIZE Rainforest Technical Lead Kevin Marriott
XPRIZE Rainforest is a 5-year, $10M global competition that will help mitigate biodiversity loss and rainforest degradation before it’s too late.
“Biodiversity loss is one of the biggest challenges that we have as humanity. The idea was to co-create with XPRIZE a prize that could help us to understand the rainforest better and really develop technologies to map it.” - Pedro Hartung, Executive Director, Alana
In episode one of our short doc mini-series, we share more about how XPRIZE and prize sponsor, Alana, partnered together to bring this impactful competition to life.
