Another milestone towards the green #hydrogen market in the #EU! 🇪🇺🇪🇺 Today, Yara Clean #Ammonia unveiled the renewable hydrogen pilot plant in #Norway in the #herøya industrial park. ❓But what’s in for you? 🍃This is the biggest green hydrogen #electrolyzer project into operation in Europe, with a 24 MW power. It is the first step towards ours and Europe’s green future. We hope this can be one of many similar projects to kick start the clean EU H2 economy, but we need an enabling framework and policies to create #demand for #low-carbon and green end products, such as #fertilizers based on electrolysis. #DYK that green fertilizers have -90% #CO2 #footprint? 🎊Yara Clean Ammonia's renewable hydrogen plant at Herøya, Norway is officially open!🎊      We have reached a major milestone in our decarbonization journey by producing hydrogen and ammonia with renewable energy. 🎉  Made with electrolysis of water and renewable energy, the hydrogen produced at the plant will replace natural gas as feedstock and annually cut 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the site, marking an important step in our decarbonization journey! ♻️    💚 This project has come to life thanks to partnerships across the whole value chain. A big thank you to Lantmännen, who’s been committed as a customer since the very start. The hurdles we’ve encountered in the project have been solved thanks to trust and close cooperation with our EPC-contractor Linde Engineering and PEM electrolyser manufacturer ITM Power. We also want to thank Enova SF for contributing with a grant, enabling us to reach the investment decision.   Yara Clean Ammonia is also working to enable the hydrogen economy by producing low-carbon ammonia with carbon capture & storage (CCS). Essential to reach the Paris Agreement, low-carbon ammonia and CCS is a critical step to decarbonize rapidly and profitably. While Yara Clean Ammonia is uniquely positioned to deliver decarbonized solutions quickly and at scale, the green transition will require capital, predictable framework conditions, funding, affordable renewable energy, and a market where demand and supply are developed simultaneously. 🤝       Learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dASBQrRD

We need to decarbonize, and we need to produce more renewable energy.” These were some reflections Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre shared during the official opening of our renewable hydrogen plant!   🎉 Yara’s renewable hydrogen plant is a major milestone in decarbonizing the food value chain, shipping fuel and other energy intensive industries.   🎯 To reach our climate goals we need to act urgently on multiple fronts and the companies who take the green transition seriously will have a competitive advantage. Proud after my visit to Poland   Nature Energy and I have been pioneers in the development of biogas and biomethane. This is an energy source that has not always been met with the support and recognition that I believe this green circular energy deserves. There is a need for more green gas, not just in Denmark, but across the globe.   Last week, together with several leading Danish companies, I was part of the Royal visit supporting the official green trade campaign in Poland with the participation of four Danish cabinet ministers and HM King Frederik X.   Here I had the opportunity to sign a letter of intent with SIME Polska, outlining how we can contribute to continue developing the possibilities for biomethane in Poland. That is one of two reasons why I am proud.   The second is that the new Danish King in his speech expressed official Denmark's support for biogas. We have come a long way over the past ten years. Read here a selection of the King's speech: “The CEO’s of some of the world’s leading companies will during the official visit address these challenges through innovation and transformation of their products, methods and services.  The need for decarbonisation and establishment of sources of green energy is essential.  We can make better use of the energy we already have by improving energy efficiency, for example in buildings, industrial facilities and cities.  Our agricultural sector can be more climate-friendly, by adding biogas and bio methane energy into the energy mix. In Denmark, we have for many years been working in public-private partnerships to develop renewable technologies in areas such as energy efficiency, biogas and methane, but also offshore wind, onshore energy sources, and establishment of reliable transmission systems for electricity and gas. Poland and Denmark have worked closely together on many of these areas for several years. In the next few days, we will deepen our collaboration on further outlining decarbonisation strategies.”

Could Haffner Energy’s spin-off, SAF Zero, reshape the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) market? Haffner Energy recently launched SAF Zero, a new spin-off company aimed at becoming a leader in the SAF sector. With its proprietary SAFNOCA® technology, SAF Zero plans to convert organic waste and biomass into syngas for SAF production. This move allows Haffner Energy to focus on other renewable energy markets while generating new revenue streams through upfront fees and royalties. Marcella Franchi, Head of SAF at Haffner Energy, highlighted current projects like the Aéroport Paris-Vatry SAF project with LanzaJet and LanzaTech, as well as other undisclosed projects in America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. In Poland, SUEZ consolidates its position as a major player in the European market for renewable energy from waste.   SUEZ becomes a shareholder in ARA Cursus alongside Eiffel Investment Group and Bourgogne, acquiring a majority stake in the company, which develops and operates anaerobic digestion plants for biogas.   ARA has developed a portfolio of 9 agricultural biogas projects in the country, one of which is already operational. Each project has a renewable energy capacity of 1 MW.   With the combined production of renewable energy and biofertiliser, ARA's biogas plants will contribute to Poland's low-carbon energy transition and circular economy. 

Electrochaea and Erik Thun Group have announced negotiations for the off-take of e-methane to be utilized as green marine fuel. This collaboration marks a pivotal move towards reducing carbon emissions in the maritime industry. Electrochaea, through its subsidiary BioCAT Roslev Aps in Denmark, is set to produce e-methane utilizing its patented bio-methanation technology. The process involves the use of renewable power from wind to produce green hydrogen, which is then combined with CO2 from biogas production to generate e-methane. This eco-friendly fuel will be integrated into the Danish gas grid, contributing to the decarbonization efforts across Europe. Erik Thun AB, a leading shipping company, intends to utilize e-methane to replace fossil-based LNG fuel in its vessels. This strategic shift aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability and its endeavor to lead the transition towards renewable fuels in the maritime sector.
