The US DOD has established strict MIL-DTL testing protocols and only products that pass these rigorous tests earn MIL-DTL certification. APEM says that some companies claim MIL-DTL certification without undergoing the actual testing, and recommends verifying such claims by requesting the specific testing procedures and results. Read my report here - The news about Pakistan showing interest in the Chinese FC-31 Gyrfalcon (formerly known as the J-31) has generated quite a buzz in South Asia, with military watchers talking about it altering the balance of power in the Indian sub-continent. But experts feel that, at best, it is a tempest in a teacup. The EurAsian Times decided to compare Indian Rafale – a 4.5 generation combat-proven fighter jet from the French aerospace maker Dassault Aviation; and FC-31 – the underdevelopment 5th generation fighter jet developed by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. https://lnkd.in/dVg5Mgaq #rafale #dassault #FC31 #IndiaPakistan #airpower

#IndianArmy’s much awaited requirement for a modern warfare battle tank has seen a silver lining after #DefenceAcquisitionCouncil (DAC) accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for procurement of ~1770 nos #FutureReadyCombatVehicles (FRCV) - ~Rs60,000 Cr. It seems tender for FRCV shall come under “Buy(Indian)” category and must meet minimum 60% indigenous content. However, Indian Industry who will win this order must strive for least dependency on foreign OEM and must build capability for providing indigenous long term maintenance & support. Which Indian Industries will participate in this - L&T, Kalyani, BHEL, BEML, AVNL? Potential OEMs - BAE (UK), Leonardo(Italy), General Dynamics (US), Hyundai Rotem (S Korea), Rheinmetall (Germany), Rosoboronexport(Russia). Good decision of #MinistryofDefence to boost indigenous defence production. #aatmanirbharbharat #selfreliance

Looking at BA against a custom index of its major aerospace & defense peers (RTX, LMT, GD, NOC and TDG), we see that it has generally weakened since the start of the decade, with tepid strength beginning in mid-2022.

China is rapidly modernizing and developing its air force, with estimates suggesting that the country is producing at least 240 combat aircraft per year. This production includes approximately 100 J-20 Mighty Dragons, 40 J-10C Vigorous Dragons, over 100 J-16 Hidden Dragons, and an unspecified number of J-11 and J-15 variants, which are derivatives of the Russian Flanker. The FC-31 (also known as J-31 or J-35) is frequently compared to the American F-35 Lightning II fighter, with allegations that China may have appropriated F-35 technology. Currently under development, the FC-31 is a fifth-generation twin-engine fighter created by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC). Once operational, it will become China’s second fifth-generation fighter. However, it remains unclear whether the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) intends to acquire the aircraft to operate alongside the J-20. The development of the FC-31 is reported to have originated from a private initiative by SAC, which continued its progress even after the PLAAF selected the rival J-20 Mighty Dragon from Chengdu Aerospace Corporation. While the J-20 is not available for export, SAC is reportedly seeking to market the FC-31, with Pakistan and Egypt identified as potential buyers. Additionally, the FC-31 is believed to have a carrier-based variant, as China is expanding its fleet of aircraft carriers. This variant, dubbed the J-35, made its first flight in 2021 and is expected to operate from the new Chinese Type 003 aircraft carrier, which is equipped with an electromagnetic catapult system. Mock-ups of the J-35 have been observed aboard the CV-18 Fujian aircraft carrier, currently undergoing sea trials, as well as on the older training aircraft carrier CV-16 Liaoning. This indicates that the aircraft is designed to be compatible with the PLA Navy’s ski-jump carriers, including the Liaoning and CV-17 Shandong. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots #china #usa #egypt #pakistan
