OUR PEOPLE

National Indigenous History Month

No alt text provided for this image

June marks National Indigenous History Month. It is a time to recognize and honour the history, cultures and important contributions of First Nation, Inuit and Métis Peoples – but also to reaffirm reconciliation efforts. Aecon celebrated National Indigenous People's Day on June 21. Members of Aecon’s Indigenous Relations team were pleased to attend a Sunrise Ceremony at Toronto’s City Hall. For generations, many Indigenous communities have celebrated this day because of the spiritual significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

Aecon’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reaffirms our commitment to collaboratively seek meaningful ways to engage in Reconciliation. Read Aecon’s RAP here.
