The New Warehouse Weekly Vol 47

Hey that's me in this week's image! Haha. Well, last week we were celebrating our 500th episode and I'm so very thankful to be able to receive the love and support that has brought. It's been amazing to be a part of the warehouse community over the last 5 years and be able to deliver information that I was looking for myself as a warehouse manager 5 years ago. Very thankful for you!

This summer it's been incredibly hot here in NJ and it is always a reminder to make sure that your warehouse workers are staying hydrated and being conscious of taking breaks to cool down. Worker comfort and safety are huge factors in being seen as an ideal place to work or one that may be considered an employer to avoid.

With increased competition in the labor market for warehouse workers, focusing on these little things can set you apart. When I was at Manhattan Associate's Momentum conference earlier this year, a presentation was being given by someone from New Balance and it really caught my attention when she mentioned that they had to put in air conditioning and temperature control not for the product but to be able to compete on labor with the local Amazon facility. These things matter and should be considered to create a great work environment that attracts and retains workers.

Think about your workers every day and how you can potentially make their day better. It may be a simple fix but can pay massive dividends.

Have a great week!

500 Episodes!!! Takeaways From 5 Years of the Podcast

500 episodes! I cannot believe it but here we are 5 years later and 500 episodes later. I didn’t think that the podcast would go this far when I released episode 1 back in 2019 but here we are. I have to say that I owe it to you, the listener. Without the listener finding value somewhere in the podcast, well the motivation probably would have died down at some point. However, the consistent feedback that listeners have learned something through our content has been a great motivator. For this episode, I’m diving into some of my takeaways from the last 500 episodes. I’d love to hear some of yours in the comments as well.
