Today is #NationalMarineSanctuaryDay! A day to highlight America's system of underwater parks. Read below to learn more about underwater monuments and how our project is working with a proposed future marine sanctuary. 👇

Happy #NationalMarineSanctuaryDay! 🌊 For over 50 years, the U.S. National Marine Sanctuary System – made up of 16 national marine sanctuaries and 2 marine national monuments – has safeguarded species and critical habitats, supported scientific research, and protected our nation’s marine cultural heritage.   💧 The Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary is particularly meaningful for our Golden State Wind project in Central California. This marine sanctuary thoughtfully balances marine conservation, protection of cultural resources, and #cleanenergy to address the impacts of climate change. We respectfully acknowledge the efforts of Tribes, Indigenous Peoples, and federal, state, and local officials to advance the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary.    💧 Our Bluepoint Wind project is located northwest of the Hudson Canyon, which is the largest submarine canyon along the Atlantic coast and has been proposed as a future National Marine Sanctuary. Bluepoint Wind has joined the Hudson Canyon Sanctuary Advisory Council, and the scientific studies and monitoring conducted within the project lease area will contribute to better understanding the region’s complex ecosystem.    At OW Ocean Winds NORTH AMERICA, we recognize the environmental and cultural significance of the current and proposed marine sanctuaries and we look forward to continuing to work together to combat #climatechange and preserve our natural resources. 🌎   👉 Learn more about how you can support marine sanctuaries at https://lnkd.in/ggYzdbpb

This time last week our Bluepoint Wind team travelled down the Jersey coast to Atlantic City for the 7th annual Time for Turbines. Bluepoint Wind is pleased to have been a sponsor of this year’s conference and prior years’. Our project’s CEO, John Dempsey, also joined a panel of fellow offshore wind NY Bight lessees to discuss the future of wind energy in the #GardenState. It was great to hear from such a diversity of stakeholders from state leaders, including NJ first lady Tammy Murphy, to organized labor, environmental justice leaders, and local suppliers, on their hopes for the future development of the industry. It’s an exciting time to be a part of offshore wind as we lay the groundwork for New Jersey’s clean energy future. Thank you to #JerseyRenews for another stellar conference!

Did you enjoy #ClimateWeekNYC 🗽? The Bluepoint Wind team sure did! This year, the team celebrated #ClimateWeekNYC by participating in panels, beach clean-ups 🌊, and supporting community events all across #NYC and #LongIsland. We joined in vibrant conversations with diverse climate leaders and industry experts on environment, sustainability, and renewable energy. ⚡ The week started with the “Accelerating the Clean Transition” reception by the Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA). ⚡ We then attended The New York Climate Exchange on Governor’s Island for discussions on critical #transmission upgrades. ⚡ In Queens, we heard from leaders on environmental justice at City & State’s 2nd Annual Climate Justice Forum with environmental leaders including White House National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi and WE ACT for Environmental Justice’s Peggy Shepard. ⚡ We heard from Bluepoint Wind CEO John Dempsey as he spoke to students at NYU Law School on a panel about NY's progress towards #netzero. ⚡ We visited The Nest Climate Campus to learn about global GHG reduction efforts and spent the evening on Long Island celebrating Citizens Campaign for the Environment's 39 years of advocacy. ⚡ We wrapped up the week at UPROSE's Climate Justice Lives Here Festival in Brooklyn, where we heard from Tribal and faith leaders on inspiring local action for the climate and the #JustTransition. A major theme emerged across all these events: addressing today’s climate challenges requires collective action and a collaborative approach 🤝 from community, industry, government, and the private sector. Bluepoint Wind is committed to doing our part to support a clean energy 🍃 future for the region. What was your takeaway from Climate Week 2024?

This #ClimateWeek, our Bluepoint Wind team joined local NYC organization, Rockaway Initiative for Sustainability & Equity , to help in their clean up of Beach 59th Street as part of their Beach Resiliency program. The team helped clear out invasive species of plants and weeds to prepare for the planting session happening this Saturday, 9/28. It was great to support RISE's efforts to promote the vibrancy of the coastal Queens community.   Our project hopes to not only bring clean power to New York and New Jersey, but to also support and take part in the resiliency efforts of local organizations already doing amazing work.   To learn more or volunteer in one of RISE Rockaway's initiatives, visit: https://lnkd.in/eGq6raGj   #ClimateWeek #CoastalResiliency #SustainableQueens

EnerTribe is going back to our energy-based roots with the Bluepoint Wind project! This project will generate power by means of offshore wind capture with energy sent to potential sites in New York and New Jersey. With the involvement of ten indigenous communities, EnerTribe has been contracted to provide comprehensive training for the Bluepoint Wind team, as well as to provide outreach and engagement with the tribes in the New York Bight project area. We will be actively engaging with tribal leadership and supporting all tribal departments during this process. In addition, Bluepoint Wind is receiving training on indigenous communities and their government structures so they are aware how best to support and include them in project decisions during this exciting collaboration. EnerTribe President and CEO Forest James says, "as a company, we are infrastructure agnostic. It doesn't matter whether it's water, power, or Internet, it's imperative that companies in the clean energy, clean water, and telecommunication sectors understand best practices when working within indigenous governments. We are privileged to support the Bluepoint Wind team! More important, we are excited to engage with the 10 tribes to ensure their needs are being met." EnerTribe is an infrastructure consulting firm specializing in working with tribal government and tribal enterprise. We work for tribes, providers, and companies to identify funding, provide training and support, engineering, and project management. We are a solutions company looking for the best way to provide equitable resources to Indian Country. #enertribe #bluepointwind #cleanenergy #infrastructure #indiancountry
