  • In honor of #HispanicAndLatinxHeritageMonth, we’re celebrating Circana employees and allies on our social channels! This week, we’re spotlighting Sheely Kleiner. How has your cultural background influenced your career or work ethic? Growing up in Venezuela, I witnessed economic challenges and societal changes that required resilience, creativity and innovation. This can foster a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, which can be invaluable in any career. Venezuelan culture is known for its warmth and passion. This enthusiasm can be a driving force in your work, helping to inspire and motivate others around you while also pursuing your own career goals with vigor. Can you share a favorite dish or recipe from your culture? Venezuelan food reflects its diverse heritage, with dishes like arepas, pabellón criollo (a rice and beans dish), and hallacas (a traditional Christmas dish) showcasing ingredients and techniques from various cultures. My favorite food is arepas, which we eat almost every day. Here’s a recipe: https://lnkd.in/g3xzq_kW

  • Yesterday, Sally Lyons Wyatt, Global EVP & Chief Advisor, Consumer Goods & Foodservice Insights at Circana, joined NextUp’s 2024 Leadership Summit discussion on ‘Leadership for a New World.’ As one of the founders and current executive sponsor for Circana’s PowerUp (early career) business resource group, she knows more than a bit about next-gen allyship. Sally joined other executives in a discussion on the importance of male advocacy in advancing gender equity and shared her insights on the importance of allies for support, guidance, and learning from each other. She also celebrated the work that Circana is doing through our different communities (BRGs, the Unstoppable Together festival, volunteering, etc.) and fostering our pipeline with our new career and growth stories. #NextUpSummit24 #DEIAtCircana

  • October marks Black History Month in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Netherlands. It is a time to honor the impactful contributions of African and Caribbean heritage individuals, both within these nations and globally. This year’s theme, “Reclaiming Narratives,” marks a pivotal shift in recognizing and correcting the portrayal of Black history and culture. By highlighting this theme, we aim to bring forward stories, allegories, and histories that emphasize our dedication to addressing historical inaccuracies and celebrating the untold successes and rich complexity of Black heritage. • Today, we observe Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—a day dedicated to confronting the painful legacy of residential schools and honoring the survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities. This day encourages us all to listen, learn, and take meaningful steps toward healing and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples nationwide. As we reflect, let’s also commit to deepening our understanding of Indigenous cultures and supporting their ongoing efforts for justice and recognition. The Canadian DEI committee hosted a session led by Krista Laboucane on September 19 to raise awareness of the residential school system’s history and legacy and how it has shaped the country we live in today. The session helped colleagues make connections to the present and learn how to begin taking actionable steps, such as creating our own ReconciliAction Plans. • In honor of #HispanicAndLatinxHeritageMonth, we’re celebrating Circana employees and allies on our social channels! This week, we’re spotlighting Evan Swidler. Are there any traditions or customs from your culture that you particularly cherish? As a member of the Jewish community, the most important theme for me is family and bringing together people we care most about to share in our life experiences — that might be formal milestones, celebration of holidays or even informal moments representing togetherness, connection and sharing of traditions. Equally as important, one of the things stressed in Judaism and we have influenced with our children is learning about other cultures, sharing traditions, and appreciating various customs, holidays and cultural dimensions. I believe there are many parallels and similarities within the Hispanic community and traditions I have experienced. Can you share a favorite dish or recipe from your culture? Our family always had a holiday tradition of making latkes (potato pancakes) from scratch, frying them up on the griddle and then topping them with homemade applesauce (some prefer sour cream). Similar to the many Hispanic cultural traditions, the theme of bringing family together, sharing delicious food around the table and experiencing “life moments” together is something I personally have always valued — and so often, it’s not about the food itself (although it doesn’t hurt if it’s delicious), but about the sharing of traditions and connection with those you care about. Check out this potato latkes recipe to try Evan’s favorite dish for yourself: https://lnkd.in/gnxar2rw

  • Circana is excited to announce the expansion of our Diversity Advantage Program (DAP) to Canada in partnership with Sobeys! 🇨🇦 This pilot program is designed to support small, diverse-owned CPG businesses, including Indigenous and other underrepresented groups, by providing them with essential data insights, strategic consultancy, and literacy training. For the past three years, our DAP initiative has empowered similar businesses in the United States and the United Kingdom. Now, we’re bringing this transformative program to Canada, helping suppliers navigate the complexities of the retail market and unlock new growth opportunities. Join us in celebrating this milestone as we continue to foster a more inclusive and equitable consumer goods ecosystem. Together with Sobeys, we are driving positive growth and inspiring meaningful change! #Diversity #Inclusion #SupplierDiversity #SmallBusiness #CPG #Canada

  • In celebration of #HispanicandLatinxHeritageMonth, we’re highlighting the incredible contributions of Circana employees and allies on our social channels this month! This week, we're excited to spotlight Patrícia Costa. 🤝 What do inclusivity and diversity mean to you in the workplace? Inclusivity and diversity mean being able to express your true self without fear of judgment. It’s about having a safe space where you can reach your full potential, regardless of your background or personal choices. It’s being part of a collective while embracing our unique differences. 🥘 Can you share a favorite dish or recipe from your culture? One of my favorites is Brazilian Fish Stew (Portuguese: Moqueca de Peixe). This vibrant and tropical dish from Bahia is infused with coconut milk and palm oil, best enjoyed with rice, farofa de dendê, and fried plantains. I could eat it every day! https://lnkd.in/gBAdmm5t #CircanaCelebratesHispanicHeritageMonth

  • Today, on International Equal Pay Day, we stand together to advocate for equal pay for equal work.  Globally, the gender pay gap still stands at roughly 20%. Though awareness and focused efforts in this area have been growing momentum, historical gender dynamics and their impact on women’s pay persist, so this day is a crucial reminder of the ongoing fight against gender pay gaps and discrimination that still affects women worldwide. At Circana, we believe equal pay for equal work should be a given, and we’re committed to the ongoing work it takes to meet this standard. Equal pay is not just a women’s issue; it’s an everyone issue!
