  • Recently, our Singapore office hosted part of the Singapore Legal Insight Programme (SLIP)— a 2-day legal career-focused event for students who are currently pursuing Law degrees at top UK universities and other Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE) approved universities. During the event, 33 talented students joined us for an insightful panel discussion with Hogan Lovells lawyers: Khushaal Ved (Counsel), Leon Yap (Counsel), Shi Jin Chia (Senior Associate), Mark Lee (Senior Associate), Sophia Kinally (Associate), and Audrey Koh (Associate). The panel explored a range of topics including career development in the legal industry, the variety of matters they've handled at Hogan Lovells, the role of associates in business development, and the many responsible business opportunities available to our people. The event concluded with a lively networking session where Associates and Partners connected with participants, leaving them impressed by the openness and camaraderie of our team. We were proud to support such an important and innovative initiative by The Law Society of Singapore, contributing to the growth of a diverse and talented pipeline of future legal professionals and encouraging top talent to return to Singapore. #LegalDiversity #HoganLovells

  • Delivering on our commitments to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion would not be possible without our employee-led networks and affinity groups across the firm. • We are delighted to share that our Race and Ethnicity at Hogan Lovells Network (REAHL) has been shortlisted as a Top 15 Network Group 2024 as part of The Ethnicity Awards, which celebrates individuals and organisations that support racially and ethnically diverse communities. The Ethnicity Awards recognise those who work tirelessly –within the public eye, in politics and in the workplace – to make a positive impact on diversity, equity and inclusion. The Hogan Lovells REAHL Network was established five years ago, with the goal of finding effective solutions that will achieve the firm’s strategic commitment to the retention, progression and inclusion of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. The founding Co-Chairs, Liam Naidoo (Partner) and Abena Poku (Head of M&BD Africa & Middle East), supported by the Steering Committee, have worked hard to cultivate belonging and a culture where everyone thrives as their authentic selves. So much has been achieved in three years. From the reduced stay gap to hosting market-leading events, REAHL has come a long way. The new Co-Chairs Sengova Kailondo (Senior Associate) and Katrina Emmanuel (Senior LPM Lead) are looking forward to the bright future of REAHL and what a way to kick off by being recognised for such an outstanding award. The award winners are announced on Thursday 31 October - we wish REAHL the best of luck! #EthnicityAwards #RaceAndEthnicity #EmployeeResourceGroups #Networks #DiversityEquityAndInclusion #LegalDiversity

  • Hogan Lovells was honored to sponsor this year's Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair, hosted by the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association! This year, we had the opportunity to connect our colleagues from across our U.S. offices to meet with law students and choose from a diverse and informative array of panel presentations. Among these panels was “The Trans in Big Law Survival Guide,” on which Washington, D.C. associate, Jay Mills (they/them), presented. The conversation explored the unique challenges that transgender and nonbinary lawyers face—from navigating the expectations of big law to finding inclusive spaces at work. The conversation centered around three main themes: ‣ Community matters. Building connections with those who understand your journey is essential for anyone, but particularly for trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming folks and those with multiple intersectional points with other marginalized groups. Find colleagues or groups who can help you navigate challenges and celebrate your accomplishments. ‣ You belong and your experiences are valuable. Your unique experiences bring invaluable insights that benefit both colleagues and clients. Give yourself permission to have a seat at the table. ‣ Intentional allyship is crucial. Allies can help share the load—especially when it comes to education and ensuring inclusivity even when you aren’t in the room. At Hogan Lovells, we believe in the power of diversity and the strength that comes from embracing our authentic selves, both in and out of the workplace. We are proud to be able to partner with the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association to create space for these conversations. #HoganLovells #DEI #DiversityEquityAndInclusion #LavLaw #LavenderLaw #LavLaw2024
