The heroes are back! India were crowned T20 World Cup on June 29 and now they have touched down on home soil. Fans were full of joy as the men who did the nation proud were back home. Rohit Sharma, the captain, was welcomed with open arms and it shows we have the best cricket fans in the world.

The best comparison would be back in 2023 when Australian skipper Pat Cummins returned home with the ODI World Cup and there was virtually nobody to receive him. It was a sorry sight and came nowhere close to the reception Rohit and the remaining India players got.

There is no doubt that Australia is the best team in the world when it comes to winning ICC titles. From 1987 to 2023, they have won 10 ICC events. Six ODI World Cups, two Champions Trophies, one T20 World Cup and one World Test Championship Final are under their belt.

India on the other hand, have won six ICC titles. That includes two ODI World Cups, two Champions Trophies including one shared and two T20 World Cups. They are second on the list of most ICC events won. But when it comes to the cricket craze, they beat Australia hands down.

This was India’s first T20 World Cup title in 17 years and first ICC title since 2013. For Rohit, it was his first ICC crown as a skipper and a great way to call time on his T20 World Cup. This win is one to savour. Fans will talk about it for generations to come.

So dear Aussies, you are the best. Yes, we Indians grudgingly accept that. But you are no match for our fandom. India may be the second best when it comes to winning titles, but they are the best when it comes to mass fan following. That is why Indian cricket fans are second to none!
