My name is Robert, Psychologist at the Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Disorder and Anxiety Clinic of Ontario. I walk alongside individuals who struggle with anxiety and OCD as they journey through healing and recovery. I work exclusively with patients with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive (OCD) disorder and I dedicate my time away from patients to researching and studying these conditions. I work with my patients on taking that knowledge and putting it into practice by teaching them how to control their anxious or disturbing thoughts, compulsive behaviors, and unsettled mind.

This is an online 8 week group that meets once a week for 2 hours. It is a group program that helps one develop their capacity for greater calm as they are taught practical skills to help manage stress. MBSR is often recommended for individuals experiencing stress resulting from chronic physical and psychological conditions. It includes both a separate silent retreat and the intake interview, and the program also includes mindful movement exercises which can be modified accordingly, to meet individual needs for comfort and safety if necessary.

We each have a story, what’s yours? I would be honored to hold space with you, to hear that story. All too often this is too hard for us to do on our own. As a natural helper, I’m here to listen, support and reflect while you explore your narrative. In our time together, you will have the openness to unfold and unpack, enlighten and transform, all those thoughts, emotions and situations that you have been holding onto. I trust in the heart of talk therapy, where we can have an authentic conversation. I believe that individuals can thrive, that they have the tenacity and will power to make the necessary changes to their lives.

MBCT is an 8 week evidence-based group therapy for preventing depressive relapse. Mindfulness is a non-judgemental way of paying attention to the present moment. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is designed to bring awareness to the habitual negative thinking that leads to depressive and anxious spirals. Combined, MBCT interrupts how we habitually react to situations, so we can choose to respond in more skillful ways. Participants will learn a variety of practices to manage depression, anxiety and prevent relapse. By learning to identify the triggers and symptoms of anxiety and depression, participants can effectively address these issues as they arise in everday life.

Are your emotional storms intense? Do you have trouble grounding yourself? Maybe ‘typical’ coping strategies don’t work? If so, this group may be for you. We will be taking an integrative approach, drawing from dialectical behaviour therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, to help you get your life back on track. This is a skills-based group, meaning you will be learning new ways of handling difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations. This group is not intended to help you fix longstanding, complex issues in your life, but it will help you manage your distress more effectively right now.

Traditional therapy methods assume that everyone’s problems can be solved by participating in weekly 1-hour sessions using one-size-fits-all protocols. This approach focuses on treating disorders, rather than people, and the latest research does not support this approach. I want to understand YOU, as a person. Together we'll figure out the underlying reasons you are stuck, and we’ll create an individualized plan for long-term change. Are your emotions overwhelming? Maybe you feel numb? Do you repeatedly respond to situations in unhelpful ways? Whatever the reasons, we’ll work together to help you take back control of your life.
