I am a board certified psychiatrist with extensive training in Child Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. I implement a treatment model that uses different interventions tailored to the patient's individual needs. I specialize in active listening to provide a diagnosis and then specific interventions to bring relief to the patients and their families. Once the emergency is addressed, the next step is to focus on the most important tools for the patient- early recognition, education, and preventive interventions to manage stress.

My expertise lies in diagnosing, treating, and managing mental health disorders through a holistic and evidence-based approach which includes incorporating patient's emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual needs.

Dr. Mousavi holds the position of attending psychiatrist at Talkiatry. She is Board certified in adult psychiatry and has been practicing for over 6 years. Dr. Mousavi's practice focuses on medication management. Typically, she offers this in conjunction with supportive therapy in 30-minute follow up visits. Dr. Mousavi may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.

Nkechi Achinanya is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She has been with Discovery MD since April, 2023. She graduated from Walden University with a Master of Science in nursing and her specialty is psychiatry. Nkechi serves clients with varying mental health conditions like schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), substance use disorders and other behavioral health challenges. She treats clients using evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods with the aim of providing a holistic treatment approach for individuals.

I have always had a keen interest in mental health and entered this field with a strong and purposeful desire to help facilitate the psychiatric wellbeing of others. In addition to my psychiatric training and experience, I previously served as a registered nurse for 12 years primarily in critical care and cardio-thoracic and surgical nursing units.

My experience as a registered nurse for over ten years includes teaching, research, psychiatric inpatient units and crisis management. Seeing the overlay of trauma, mental health and substance abuse across all ages, identities, races and religions led me to want to help my patients on a deeper level to make change and be present for their change on a more personal level. This was my motivation to go back and earn my Doctorate Degree to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I have additional training in addictions to help serve as many patients as I can regardless of their diagnoses or comorbidities.

Dr. Ivey is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Ivey has previously worked in inpatient treatment of mood disorders at Sheppard Pratt and has over 2 years clinical experience in outpatient care. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions across the human lifespan.

Mental Health and Wellness requires individualized approach. My goal of treatment is to collaborate with the client, identify and improve client's strengths while working with them to identify and work on areas of weakness. There is no magic pill to take away stress, but it's effect on our mental health can be effectively managed using joint effort. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, she believes that the most important aspect of care is listening to the client's unique story. Although medication management is a large part of her role, medicine is only prescribed when absolutely necessary. Dr. Patterson will assess your genetics, reproductive hormonal events, as well as life events/stressors and responses to them. Dr. Patterson also specializes in child and adolescent mental health.

I am dual certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in two states; Maryland and Florida.  I have been providing nursing services for over 14years. In my practice, an individual's mental health symptoms are not only addressed, we believe in a holistic approach, whereby an individual's mental and social factors are taken into consideration. Most of my clinical time is spent in assessing patients, making pharmacologic recommendations in the management of major psychiatric disorders, and providing follow-up medication management. Areas of interest include the management of affective disorders - major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder; anxiety disorders, PTSD and OCD; adult ADHD; the interface of major medical illness and psychiatric response; and a variety of adjustment disorders resulting from lifestyle issues. I also have experience in the management of substance use disorders and am the Medical Director of a nationally acclaimed addiction program in Towson.
