I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with experience in helping children, adults, and families in addressing diverse mental health, substance use and social life issues. I have extensive experience in working in crisis management as it relates to mental health, substance use, traumatic events, chronic pain and other health related issues. I also facilitate family team meetings to ensure continuity of care.

My ideal client is one that has simply recognized that they are dealing with an issue in life, big or small, and think that it would be helpful to have a third party that is not directly involved in those issues, but might be able to offer different a different perspective. The ideal client is also one that is ready to work, whether it is working on coping skills to more healthily deal with life stressors, or work on increasing self-awareness and what they are bring to every interaction they have and decision they make.

As a clinical psychologist, a graduate of the George Washington University, I provide therapy and assessment services to adults, children and adolescents. I am also part of the clinical faculty in the Professional Psychology program (Psy.D) at George Washington University.

I am passionate about helping adolescents and young adults navigate the difficult transition of emerging adulthood. I have experience working in inpatient settings with high-risk adolescents, partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient settings. As a second-generation Croatian American, I am familiar with the direct impact multiculturalism can have on one’s mental health and overall wellbeing. Growing up in Montgomery County, I understand the unique culture of growing up in an area with high academic pressures imposed on students.

I believe that we all strive to be more authentic in our lives but sometimes get lost along the way. Together, you and I will explore your concerns at your pace and try to get more clarity. I work with individuals and how they view themselves, others, and their world. I am committed to working with you to foster greater insight and improve your agency in your life. I also collaborate with people in relationships to help them reconnect and communicate better. I'm also getting trained in sex therapy, as well as couples' therapy.

My approach is interactive, non-pathologizing, and client-centered. I believe that clients have developed skills through their life that have helped them get this far, and sometimes we need an extra eye to help us see our own skills, strengths, and patterns. I started my work in Ohio in 2017, and through moves to NC and DC, I have developed a very integrative model through the therapists I've had the pleasure of working with.

Kaleidoscope Wellness and Education Group, LLC (Kaleidoscope) provides mental health services to children, youth and their families with a focus on those who are underserved and marginalized. Tzu-Yu (Alice) Kan is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. Alice has extensive experience working with culturally diverse clients on various mental health issues related to depression, anxiety, anger management, grief, trauma, hallucination, delusion, cultural identity, and relationships. She interned at a substance abuse program, where she assisted individuals in understanding their addiction, reducing their use, and eventually maintaining abstinence.

I believe therapy is a soft landing place where you feel seen, express and process emotions, and develop the tools to live a liberated life. Life can present a host of challenges that may make it difficult for us to thrive but this does not have to be your truth. Many of these challenges may have even existed before you were born, which has been described as inter-generational trauma. My aim as a practitioner is to meet you where you are on your path to self discovery and healing. I use a Humanistic - Existential, and utilize techniques from CBT, ACT and Narrative therapy modalities.

I am a Master's level psychology intern from the Loyola University Maryland Clinical Professional Counseling Program. I am interested in offering a holistic approach utilizing methods from Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other modes of therapy to help patients holistically heal in a therapeutic space. My clinical interests include anxiety and depression in adolescents and adults, especially those from underserved communities. I am also interested in working with minority and immigrant women who struggle with body image, and with individuals who have interpersonal, academic, and vocational conflicts.
