I generally use a Cognitive Behavioral approach, but use other treatment modalities as appropriate for each person. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which helps reduce distress related to traumatic events and memories as well as unhelpful core beliefs and thoughts.

Hello, I am Jim Bennett ,Counselor. I have compassionately worked with families, couples, individuals, teens and groups for over 29 years. I have worked with these clients in a private practice setting and in an addictions treatment center setting. I have accomplished Masters Degrees in both Counseling and Clinical Psychology. I studied both disciplines to equip myself for assessment as well as treatment . I became a counselor to help teens navigate their way into adulthood. I quickly found that the family is where it all starts. Therefore, I focused on family/marriage counseling. From there I branched into addiction counseling.

While I understand that not everyone has sexual concerns and questions, our mental health can be greatly affected by sex and sexuality; whether you're having it or not. After the death of my 21-year old son due to a homicide, my life as I once knew it, changed forever. This horrific experience has taught me that you do not get over your grief, you strive to get through and beyond it. This is not like the five stages of grief one experiences during an expected loss of a loved one, you do not progress step by step, but you can get through it.
